Schools with spacious appearances and modern learning spaces are opening up a new atmosphere for Hanoi's education.

New school, new beginning

I feel very happy to be transferred to study at the new school," Le Bao Han, a 12D3 student, expressed her joy when returning to study at Viet Duc High School (Cua Nam ward, Hanoi) after more than 1.5 years of temporary study at a borrowed facility during the school's renovation phase.

What impressed Han was the larger stage for students to practice arts, the cool library for studying and club activities. The school space is also wider and more airy, with more places for students to play, socialize, and exercise. Spiral stairs and terraces have also quickly become places that Han and her classmates love. Although she has officially returned to the new school since the opening day, Han has not yet been fully familiar with the large spaces here.

Right on the first day, we had to look at the diagram but still didn't know where the class was, so we had to ask the teachers and find the class location together. Entering the new school year with a complete space, I hope there will be more events for students to participate in and interact" - Han expressed.

Pham Tran Hoang Bach, a 12D3 student, also expressed his excitement to return to school with a completely new look. For final year students, Bach believes that the new school not only brings a different learning space from before. It is also a motivation for them to try their best in the last school year, worthy of the waiting time and the efforts of the teachers.

If for 12th grade students, a new school is the result of a waiting process, then for first-grade secondary school students, this is the starting point of new school years.

Nguyen Truc Ngan, a 6A1 student at Phan Boi Chau Secondary School (Long Bien ward) is impressed by the school's "very large, spacious and modern", with many new equipment. The classroom space, tables and chairs also make me feel more beautiful and convenient than elementary school. What I want in the coming school years is to study well, and at the same time have harmonious friends to help each other.

Vu Lam Thien Anh, class 6A1, especially likes classrooms and music learning spaces. In elementary school, he used to learn music and piano but did not have many opportunities to play musical instruments. At the new school, during music hours, each student has a separate piano to get acquainted with and use. That makes him feel more comfortable and set a goal to be able to use the piano at a basic level, playing many songs.

At another age, Nguyen Phuc Kim Huong, a 8A1 student, was attracted to the library. The first time entering the new library, Kim Huong was impressed with the way the school invested in quality and facilities. She used 3 words "modern", "beautiful" and "quality" to describe this space.

I feel very excited and love the school more after entering the new library" - Kim Huong shared.

From a new look to a new learning space

Ms. Nguyen Boi Quynh - Principal of Viet Duc High School said that the school after renovation includes 2 main buildings. Building A has an ancient French architecture with a history of nearly 120 years. Building B was newly built, replacing the degraded building from the early 1990s.

This building has 6 above-ground floors, one basement for parking. Among them, the 3 lower floors are painted light yellow, with a dome door system. Ms. Quynh said that this is the intention of the school, to create a design similar to the ancient French architecture of building A.

Two colors, yellow and red, are chosen as the main colors, combining square doors and straight lines, creating a connection between traditional architecture and a new look but still bearing a modern mark.

The new building has 20 classrooms and 10 functional rooms serving the subjects of Fine Arts, Music, Foreign Languages. German, French, Japanese, and Korean classrooms are arranged separately. The school also reserves space for landscape, relaxation and reading for students, including a large landscape garden on the 6th floor.

According to Ms. Quynh, students come to school with a cheerful attitude, excited about the new look. After studying for free or in a cramped campus, without playgrounds, they have more space to study, socialize and rest.

I want students to really feel happy when they come to school, both learn knowledge and feel comfortable, and enjoy a good environment for education" - Ms. Quynh said.

At Phan Boi Chau Secondary School, the 2026 - 2027 school year is the first year the school goes into operation, with a scale of 541 students.

Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung - Vice Principal of the school said that there are 27 classrooms, 18 functional rooms, 12 semi-boarding rooms, a football field and a multi-purpose building. In addition to the general education program, the school organizes additional and advanced content and talent clubs such as table tennis, badminton, football, MC, music, fine arts...

Students can also use libraries, functional rooms or sports spaces while waiting for parents, shuttle buses. Clubs for students with a deeper understanding of subjects are also organized.

Teachers are excited, students are excited and together determined to build a safe educational environment, a happy school, bringing students experiences in learning and training" - Mr. Hung said.
