Strengthening the work of caring for workers
Vice Chairman of the An Giang Provincial Federation of Labor Nguyen Huu Giang said: One of the important solutions to contribute to stabilizing the labor relations situation in the area is to promote care for the lives of workers. And this is a solution that the Provincial Federation of Labor at all levels of the Provincial Trade Union has paid attention to implementing and bringing about efficiency over the years, thereby contributing to stabilizing the labor relations situation in the province.
Every year, the Provincial Federation of Labor implements many peak periods to care for union members and workers such as: Lunar New Year, Workers' Month and Trade Union Establishment Day. Typically, on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2025, the Provincial Federation of Labor and trade unions at all levels focused all resources to visit and give gifts to over 110,000 union members and workers with a total value of over 100 billion VND. In particular, focusing on taking care of workers in enterprises facing difficulties and enterprises with a large number of employees.
In early 2025, facing the situation of GAVI Joint Stock Company (Phu Tan) going bankrupt, the An Giang Provincial Federation of Labor quickly took action, established a working group to directly grasp the situation and share difficulties with workers. Immediately afterwards, the Provincial Federation of Labor directed the Phu Tan District Labor Federation to coordinate with the government to organize visits and give gifts, and at the same time deploy legal regulations to protect the rights of 41 workers. Thanks to timely intervention, workers' rights have been resolved stably according to regulations.
Strengthening the implementation of the Grassroots Democracy Regulations
Taking advantage of the direction of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the Provincial Party Committee and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, the An Giang Provincial Federation of Labor has implemented many documents related to the implementation of the Grassroots Democracy Regulations. Outstanding activities include: Registering for supervision work according to Decision 217/QD-TW; sending staff to urge and remind them to organize conferences of cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers' conferences in accordance with regulations; developing a plan to inspect the implementation of legal regulations on employment, wages, social insurance, labor safety, female labor regimes, use of trade union funds, etc. At the same time, organizing working groups to grasp the living and employment situation of workers at enterprises.
At the end of 2024, the An Giang Provincial Federation of Labor coordinated with relevant agencies to organize 2 supervision sessions at two enterprises with a large number of employees: Duc Thanh Import-Export Garment Joint Stock Company and Dream An Giang Company Limited. At the same time, coordinate with the Provincial Labor Relations Department, the Provincial Social Insurance and relevant agencies to inspect, check, and resolve recommendations, complaints, and denunciations related to social insurance, health insurance, and unemployment insurance at 64 units and enterprises.
In 2024, the whole province has 20/20 State-owned enterprises supplementing and amending the Regulations on implementing democracy at the grassroots level, and at the same time organizing negotiations and signing Collective Labor Agreements with many contents beneficial to employees, exceeding legal regulations.
In the non-state sector, 239/245 enterprises with trade unions have signed Collective Labor Agreements, reaching a rate of 98% (of which 7 new agreements were signed in 2024). The agreements are increasingly improved in content and form, contributing to promoting democratic rights, promoting production, and increasing income for workers.
The whole province has 265 enterprises (reaching 100%) organizing periodic or ad hoc dialogues to promptly resolve issues related to workers' rights. Thanks to that, in 2024, there will be no collective labor disputes or strikes in the province.
