Attending were Mr. Nguyen Hong Ha - Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Can Tho City Party Committee, Ms. Le Thi Suong Mai - Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Member of the City Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee (VFF) of the city, Chairman of the Can Tho City Labor Federation and nearly 100 union officials at enterprises in the area.

Quickly reporting on the results of the activities of the new Can Tho City Trade Union after the merger, Mr. Le Cong Khanh - Vice Chairman of the Can Tho City Labor Federation, concurrently Head of the Trade Union Work Committee - said that the City Labor Federation has directed and instructed the grassroots trade unions to proactively coordinate with the authorities and professional collaborators to organize labor conferences, reaching 84% with 432/512 units implementing.

The Management Board of the Golden Heart Social Charity Fund Branch considered supporting the construction of new, donating 35 Union Shelters. Many businesses in the area have organized activities such as Union Meals, sports festivals, gift giving... practically to celebrate the 96th Anniversary of the Founding of the Vietnam Trade Union.
The City Labor Federation has awarded many Certificates of Merit to outstanding collectives and individuals in emulation movements. In addition, 2 innovative models of the city have been awarded the Creative Labor Certificate by the General Confederation of Labor in 2025.
After the merger and consolidation, the whole city has 891 grassroots unions with 138,680 union members/161,900 workers. Accordingly, the City Trade Union has established 6 grassroots unions, with 669 union members.

At the conference, leaders of the City Labor Federation had the opportunity to listen to and record the opinions and proposals of the grassroots trade unions in enterprises in the area related to the issue of social housing for employees; the level of union fee collection; focal points to support grassroots trade unions after the merger;...Thereby, promptly directing and removing difficulties for grassroots trade unions, improving the effectiveness of trade union activities in the new situation.
Speaking at the conference, Ms. Le Thi Suong Mai - Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Member of the City Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city, President of the Can Tho City Labor Federation - emphasized that after the merger, the Trade Union organization is required to improve the organizational apparatus and unify the methods of operation to meet the requirements in the new situation. Ensuring smooth union activities is a key factor to maintain the role of representing, caring for, and protecting the rights of union members and employees.

In response to that requirement, the Chairman of the City Labor Federation requested that the grassroots unions focus on performing well the function of representing and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of union members and employees; Regularly carry out inspection and supervision of the implementation of regimes; improve the quality of negotiation, signing and effective implementation of collective labor agreements.
At the same time, actively launch emulation movements, creating motivation to encourage members and employees to improve product quality, and work with businesses to develop sustainable production. In particular, prepare well the conditions for holding Trade Union Congresses at all levels according to the beliefs of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; Pay attention to developing new union members, establishing grassroots trade unions; Improve the capacity of trade union officials to meet new requirements in the period of digital transformation and international integration.
