On June 11, the Can Tho City People's Committee Trade Union announced that the unit had just held a conference to review the activities of the Trade Union in the second quarter of 2025 and implement decisions on the organization of grassroots trade unions (CDCS).
The Can Tho City People's Committee Trade Union was established and officially operated from February 28, 2025, managing 62 affiliated trade unions with 10,338 union members. Since its establishment, the unit has soon stabilized its organization. Accordingly, focus on developing a work program for 2025; promulgating working regulations, internal spending regulations, reward regulations and directing grassroots trade unions to stabilize organization, develop union members, etc.
The work of propagating the Party's guidelines, the State's laws and policies and the country's holidays, anniversaries, ministries, branches... among union members and workers is guaranteed in many diverse forms.
During the Workers' Month 2025, the Can Tho City People's Committee Trade Union organized periodic health check-ups, vocational disease screening; coordinated to organize tours and tours for workers, civil servants, and laborers (CNVCLD); organized a conference to disseminate legal regulations on Occupational Safety and Hygiene - Prevention of occupational diseases; disease prevention, HIV/AIDS prevention among employees and prevention of the harmful effects of tobacco, building a smoke-free working environment, etc.
Along with recognizing and objectively assessing the results achieved, advantages and difficulties in the unit's Trade Union activities in the second quarter of 2025, the conference also implemented many important decisions on the arrangement of grassroots trade union organizations.
Accordingly, the Can Tho City People's Committee Trade Union has implemented decisions on dissolving 24 grassroots trade unions and ending the activities of the Executive Committee, Standing Committee, Inspection Committee of grassroots trade unions of administrative agencies and public service units receiving 100% of salaries from the state budget under the Can Tho City People's Committee Trade Union, starting from June 10, 2025. At the same time, 36 grassroots trade unions and 6,358 union members under the Can Tho City People's Committee Trade Union will be transferred to the Can Tho City Labor Federation, from June 10, 2025.
Speaking at the conference, Chairwoman of the Can Tho City People's Committee Trade Union Nguyen Thi Ngoc Ly acknowledged and expressed gratitude to the grassroots trade union officials who have made many contributions to building the trade union organization to grow stronger.
For the grassroots trade unions transferred to the City Labor Federation, the Chairman of the Trade Union of the Can Tho City People's Committee hopes that the units will continue to promote their role in implementing the grassroots policy. Each grassroots trade union has a model of caring for and performing well the role of representing and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of union members and workers; Continuing to be a bridge between the Party, government and organizations to build harmonious, stable and progressive relations.
