From November 13-15, at the Suoi Dau Industrial Park Workers' Culture and Sports Center, the Trade Union of Industrial Parks and Economic Zones of Khanh Hoa province organized liver cancer screening tests for union members and workers.
Arriving early to take a blood test to screen for liver cancer, Mr. Luong Huu Tinh - a worker at Thang Long Company Limited - was very excited.
"The program is very meaningful to workers. Due to production conditions, workers like me rarely take the initiative to go for cancer screening. Usually, we only go for checkups and examinations when we feel pain or tired. Whether the results are good or not, we will know so we can take care of our health in time. I hope the Union has more health screening programs for workers like this, it is very good" - Mr. Tinh shared.
For Ms. Ho Thi Hoa - a garment worker at French Women's Apparel Development Company Limited, when the company's Union announced, she registered to participate in the screening.
Ms. Hoa said: "During the examination, medical staff advised on disease screening tests. Many times, workers are busy with work and do not have time to go for regular check-ups. Therefore, with the support of the company and the Trade Union, I immediately participated to proactively protect my health and work more productively."
Leaders of the Trade Union of Industrial Parks and Economic Zones of Khanh Hoa province said that implementing phase 1 of the union welfare program between the Khanh Hoa Provincial Federation of Labor and Medlatec Khanh Hoa Company Limited, the Trade Union of Industrial Parks and Economic Zones organized liver cancer screening tests for nearly 1,000 union members and workers.
Through a survey of the needs of liver cancer screening among union members and workers, the Union has coordinated to arrange a reasonable time for union members to participate. In addition to free liver cancer screening, union members also receive a 10% discount on screening tests for other diseases.
The cost of consultation and testing to support union members during this period is 110,000 VND/case. Pre-cancer screening for industrial park workers is of practical significance in supporting workers to proactively check their health. This is also one of the contents of caring for union members and workers that the Union at all levels has focused on implementing in recent times.
