In the period 2023-2025, the Lam Dong Provincial Labor Federation (LDLD) has actually developed more than 30,670 union members, reaching 82.37% of the assigned target, raising the total number of trade union members in the whole province to 175,598 people.
Recently, the Provincial Labor Federation established 3 grassroots trade unions with 105 union members after a period of propaganda, mobilization and working with businesses.
This is a noteworthy result in the context of a fluctuating labor market and businesses continuously adjusting production scale.
However, reality shows that the development of union members and the establishment of grassroots trade unions are still not commensurate with their potential.
On January 14, Mr. Nguyen Phu Hoang - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial Labor Federation - said that currently the Lam Dong Provincial Labor Federation directly manages more than 950 grassroots trade unions with nearly 90,000 union members.
Workers' awareness of the role of trade union organizations has had many positive changes. Workers are increasingly interested in joining trade unions to protect their legitimate rights, especially issues related to salaries, working conditions, social insurance and welfare regimes.
In addition, many businesses are expanding production, increasing the number of workers, creating favorable conditions for the establishment of grassroots trade unions.
However, the investigation and survey of enterprises and grasping the situation of workers in some areas are not close to reality.
The update of the list of enterprises without trade union organizations is still slow, causing propaganda and mobilization activities to develop union members to not achieve high efficiency, and not reach the target group of workers.
The Organization - Inspection Department of the Trade Union Working Committee (Lam Dong Provincial Labor Federation) said that, before the requirements set out in the period 2025-2030, the Lam Dong Provincial Labor Federation determined that the development of union members must be linked to improving the quality of union members and the operational efficiency of grassroots trade unions. The focus is placed on the non-state business sector.
Therefore, the Provincial Labor Federation will continue to innovate the content and form of propaganda in a concise, easy-to-understand direction, focusing on clarifying the practical benefits of workers and employers when there is a trade union organization.
At the same time, consolidate the contingent of officials working in developing union members, directly supporting grassroots trade unions in the process of mobilization, establishment and organizational stability.
Along with that, the Lam Dong Provincial Labor Federation will strengthen skills training for trade union officials, promote dialogue and collective bargaining, and build harmonious labor relations in enterprises.
When grassroots trade unions truly accompany and solve issues of concern to workers, the trade union organization will become a fulcrum, attracting workers to participate sustainably in the new situation.
