On January 18, the Department of Industry and Trade of Lam Dong province said that in the past time, labor safety and hygiene work in the province has been concerned and directed by all levels and sectors, strengthening inspection, examination, and supervision.
Thanks to that, the awareness of law compliance of many businesses has had positive changes. However, labor accidents still occur, including cases causing serious damage to people and property.
Notably, the time leading up to the Lunar New Year and peak periods to accelerate the progress of public investment, expand production, overtime, and increase productivity potentially pose a high risk of labor accidents. Progress pressure, chasing after year-end orders, and neglecting safety procedures are the reasons for increased risks.

Recently, on January 13, a labor accident occurred at Phong Phu quarry (Tuy Phong commune, Lam Dong province), killing one worker. On January 18, the People's Procuracy of Lam Dong province confirmed that this was a labor accident. The victim is Mr. N.T.C, a worker performing drilling for stone mining.
After the incident occurred, the People's Procuracy of Region 14 - Lam Dong coordinated with the Provincial Police Investigation Agency to examine the scene.
Accordingly, the area where the accident occurred is within the scope of the quarry, the terrain is high, with a lot of soil and rocks, posing a risk of unsafety if not strictly complying with labor procedures. Currently, factors related to working conditions and safety procedures are being further clarified by functional agencies.

Faced with the above reality, Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Dinh Van Tuan conveyed the direction of the Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, requesting departments, branches, and localities to tighten state management of labor safety and hygiene, especially in industries and occupations with high risks and areas using a lot of seasonal labor and uncontracted labor.
According to the direction, inspection work will be strengthened before, during and after the 2026 Binh Ngo Lunar New Year, focusing on working conditions, machinery, equipment, safety procedures and responsibilities of employers. Technical safety inspection, labor environment monitoring, declaration and statistics of labor accidents must be strictly implemented.
People's Committees of communes and wards are assigned to proactively review the labor situation in the area, promptly detect, handle or propose handling of violations of labor safety and hygiene laws.
Preventing occupational accidents and diseases is identified as a regular and long-term task, aimed at ensuring the safety of workers' lives and stabilizing production and business activities.
