On July 20, Lam Dong Provincial Labor Federation said that it is developing a Project to establish trade unions in communes, wards and special zones in the province.
After the merger, Lam Dong Provincial Federation of Labor managed 1,007 grassroots unions with more than 92,300 union members and workers.
Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial Labor Federation - Mr. Nguyen Phu Hoang - said that the establishment of commune, ward and special zone trade unions is based on the direction and guidance of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor. Accordingly, communes, wards and special zones with 10 grassroots unions and 1,500 union members or more will have their own unions established; places that do not meet the conditions will have inter-commune and ward unions established.
According to the project, 17 trade unions will be established in Phu Quy special zone and 16 trade unions in qualified communes and wards. Of these, 11 trade unions of communes, wards and special zones have been approved by the Standing Committee of the old Binh Thuan Provincial Party Committee. At the same time, in 107 unqualified communes and wards, 13 inter-commune and ward unions will be established.
The project has now been submitted by the Provincial Labor Federation to the Standing Committee of Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee for consideration, comments and approval according to its authority.
Mr. Nguyen Phu Hoang added that the unit is coordinating with Party committees and authorities of communes and wards to survey, prepare necessary conditions and agree on an implementation plan. When approved, the project will be implemented immediately to suit the reality and organization of the trade union apparatus in the new province after the merger.
