Nearly 25 years in the irrigation industry

Born in 1972 in Dong Co commune (Tien Hai district, Thai Binh province), in 1993, Mr. Tran Trong Kim graduated from the Metallurgical College and then did many different jobs, before working at Tien Hai Irrigation Works Exploitation Enterprise since 2001.

During nearly 25 years of working with the unit, Mr. Kim has always been recognized and evaluated as a dedicated worker and party member (admitted to the Party in 2006), with a lot of effort and dedication, working with the team to excellently complete all assigned tasks.

As the Head of the Mechanical Team, assigned by the Board of Directors of the enterprise to perform the task of repairing and maintaining machinery and operating equipment on the entire irrigation system of Tien Hai district managed by the enterprise, Mr. Kim actively advised the Board of Directors to plan for timely and quick repairs and maintenance, meeting the needs of serving agricultural production in the most economical and technically safe manner.

2 initiatives that make billions

From 2021 to 2023, Mr. Tran Trong Kim boldly proposed to the Company's Board of Directors, the Board of Directors of the enterprise and self-funded the research and manufacture of a machine to cut and scoop duckweed on the river with the topic "Combination of boats, milling machines, scooping and pressing duckweed, clearing the flow, improving labor efficiency in irrigation and drainage to serve agricultural production and rural development in Thai Binh province".

After many trials and overcoming the disadvantages, the duckweed chopping machine has been put into operation with high efficiency, saving companies and factories billions of dong compared to manual labor and greatly reducing the hardship.

Specifically, previously, workers were contracted to collect duckweed seasonally with a salary of 250,000 VND/day, each worker collected about 30m3 of duckweed/day.

When used instead of the duckweed chopping machine invented by Mr. Kim and his colleagues, the machine can scoop and chop 33m² in 1 minute, and 7,920m³ in a day. Thus, compared to manual labor and machine, the difference is 264 working hours, and a year of machine work is equivalent to 69,696 working hours, estimated to bring in tens of billions of dong in profit.

With the effectiveness of the duckweed chopping machine, in 2023, Mr. Kim was awarded the Second Prize by the Thai Binh Provincial Science and Technology Association in the 10th Thai Binh Provincial Science - Technology and Engineering Innovation Contest.

Previously, in 2018, Mr. Kim also had the initiative to manufacture a single-phase electric culvert lifting machine from V2 to V7, which has been widely applied to serve production, effectively reducing human labor and saving time; saving the factory hundreds of millions of dong annually and expanding to other districts such as Vu Thu, Kien Xuong, Dong Hung, Thai Thuy and Thai Binh City.

Talking to Lao Dong reporter, Mr. Tran Trong Kim expressed: "I always try, strive to do my best together with the company, factory and professional team to carry out and complete all assigned tasks well. Along with professional tasks, I always seek, learn and research to find good and useful initiatives and solutions to apply in practice. Many times, when I have an idea, I explore it myself, spend my own money to research and manufacture it, when I feel it is effective, then I boldly propose to my superiors to implement the topic, bring it to the competition and apply it in production labor".
