On April 6, Mr. Pham Viet Dung - Chairman of the Thai Nguyen Provincial Federation of Labor said that with nearly 170,000 union members of grassroots unions, the implementation of the Law on Prevention and Control of Domestic Violence (PCBLGD) by trade unions at all levels in Thai Nguyen province has not only stopped at legal documents but also been put into practice through many practical activities.
Propaganda work is promoted through seminars, training sessions, seminars and diverse communication campaigns on social networks, leaflets, and banners. Programs such as "Art of being a wife, being a mother" for employees of Samsung Electronics Vietnam Thai Nguyen Co., Ltd., or "Creating a happy family" sharing sessions in Pho Yen city have attracted thousands of participants. This is not only an opportunity for workers to learn about the Law onPCs but also helps workers equip themselves with more skills to resolve conflicts and maintain family happiness.
Not only stopping at propaganda, the Provincial Federation of Labor has taken specific actions to support the families of employees.
Over the past two years, more than 30 classes on disseminating laws on domestic violence have been organized with the participation of more than 3,000 people. In addition, practical support programs such as building 10 "Union Shelters" worth over 500 million VND, supporting nearly 3 billion VND for 2,720 families affected by natural disasters have also been implemented promptly.
The model of "Self-managed workers' groups in boarding houses" has also been established in many localities, contributing to ensuring security and order and improving the spiritual life of workers away from home.
With 5 self-management groups attracting nearly 1,000 workers, this is truly a solid support to help workers feel safer and more connected in life.
Despite many positive results, the work of preventing domestic violence still faces many difficulties. In some rural areas, remote areas, the idea of "domestic violence is a private matter" still exists. Gender preferences and patriarchal ideology are also major barriers that make many victims not dare to speak up.
According to Mr. Pham Viet Dung, to continue to improve the effectiveness ofPCLGD work, it is necessary to have more policies to support victims legally, psychologically and financially. Expanding temporary shelter models in industrial parks, creating a network of legal consultancies at grassroots trade unions, as well as improving the capacity of trade union officials in detecting and handling cases of domestic violence are solutions that need to be promoted...
