On the morning of September 23, commemorating the 79th anniversary of the Southern Resistance Day (September 23, 1945 - September 23, 2024), in Hoc Mon district, Ho Chi Minh City, the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation (HCF) launched the construction of 95 "Union Shelters".
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Mr. Pham Chi Tam - Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation - said that the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation organized a program to mobilize funds to build 95 "Union Shelters" (each house worth 60 million VND) to give to union members, workers in difficult circumstances in Ho Chi Minh City and union members and workers whose houses collapsed due to storm No. 3 (storm Yagi) from now until April 30, 2025.
This is a meaningful project demonstrating the spirit of solidarity, national love - compatriots, sharing of union officials, union members, and workers in Ho Chi Minh City with union members and workers facing housing difficulties.
This is also a project and part of the work aimed at celebrating the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2025), the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) and actively responding to the emulation movement to join hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in Ho Chi Minh City...
Mr. Tam also requested that all levels of the Ho Chi Minh City trade union thoroughly disseminate the purpose, meaning and spirit of the program to union members and workers and call on union members and workers to promote the spirit of "Sharing food and clothes", "Love others as you love yourself" and the solidarity of the Vietnamese working class to actively support the program so that no one is left behind.
Speaking about her feelings when receiving the funding to build the “Union Shelter”, Ms. Tran Thi Thuy Trang - a member of the EIZO Company’s grassroots union (residing in Tan Hiep commune, Hoc Mon district), who received the “Union Shelter” - emotionally shared: “I am very happy and touched to receive the attention and financial support from the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation to donate the “Union Shelter”, so that my family can have the conditions to repair the house to be more spacious. From now on, my family will feel more secure every time the rainy season and storms come, my family and children will not have to live in difficult circumstances like in the past.
This is a very meaningful project that helps many union members and workers have safer and warmer homes. We promise to continue to strive harder in production and labor, strive to escape poverty sustainably, and gradually stabilize our lives."
Before the launching ceremony, leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation, union members and workers held a ceremony to offer flowers and incense to commemorate President Ho Chi Minh and pay tribute to heroic martyrs and compatriots who died for national independence and freedom at the Giong Junction Historical Site (Hoc Mon District, Ho Chi Minh City).
