No longer just dry slogans, the Trade Union has gradually become a real support for workers. In industrial parks, timely and practical support actions are the "magnet" to attract new union members. The "Trade Union Home" program is a typical example when many workers have been supported in building houses and stabilizing their lives.
Ms. Le Thi Tay, a worker at My Phong Leather Shoe Co., Ltd. (Tap Ngai commune), emotionally recounted the new roof: "Currently, my children also have peaceful study space, the family is gradually stabilizing and happier. If it weren't for the concern of the Trade Union, I don't know when I would have this roof and peace for my whole family.
Truly, what the Trade Union does for union members is not only material, but also faith, motivation for workers to feel secure in sticking with and striving in their work every day," Ms. Tay added.
Not only providing material support, the Trade Union is also a "legal fulcrum" to protect the rights of workers. Mr. Nguyen Cong Toan (name changed), a worker at a business in Tra Vinh (before the merger), recalled the days when the company was late in paying salaries, causing thousands of workers to fall into difficulties.
Salary delays directly affect meals and rent for employees. When the Provincial Labor Federation directly worked with the company, the bottleneck was removed, and workers received full salaries. This makes us see that the Trade Union is always standing side by side to protect their rights," Mr. Toan shared. These real-life experiences prove that the Trade Union is implementing the motto "talking to the people, making the people believe".
Benefits are the key factor
Talking about the plan to develop 20,000 new union members in 2026, Mr. Nguyen Phuc Linh - Chairman of Vinh Long Provincial Labor Federation - emphasized: "We identify this goal not only as a report figure, but as a real quality of connection. If we want workers to come to us, we must come to them with the most tangible and practical benefits.
According to Mr. Linh, the strategy of the Provincial Labor Federation this year is based on three pillars: Innovating propaganda work, improving the quality of grassroots staff and implementing "Union member Welfare" packages.
Not only present with banners or slogans, but also directly go to boarding houses and production workshops to listen to workers. The "24h Trade Union" groups on Zalo and Facebook will answer questions about insurance and salaries, helping workers clearly see the role of the organization in protecting their rights," Mr. Linh emphasized.
To achieve the target of 20,000 union members, the Provincial Labor Federation focuses on training grassroots officials. These are people who are close, playing a bridge role to help businesses and workers connect. Digitizing the process of joining the trade union is also important, helping workers register online, access skills support and free legal advice right at work.
In addition to focusing on administrative procedures, Vinh Long Trade Union aims for tangible experiences: Workers clearly see benefits, feel secure when their rights are protected, and at the same time see the practical presence of the organization. Housing, health, and legal support programs are vivid proof of the philosophy of "taking workers as the center".
