U22 Vietnam ended the group stage of the 33rd SEA Gmaes men's football tournament with 2 wins. Coach Kim Sang-sik and his team defeated U22 Laos 2-1 and U22 Malaysia 2-0 respectively.
With the top spot in Group B, U22 Vietnam will face the second team in Group A, U22 Philippines, in the semi-finals of the 33rd SEA Games. Compared to Thailand, the Philippines is considered an " easy" opponent for Khuat Van Khang and his teammates.
In the most recent training session, the group of players who started the match against Malaysia practiced lightly to recover. Before that, Mr. Kim Sang-sik also took the time to learn from this group after the last match.
The remaining group of players are practicing at high intensity to best prepare for the upcoming semi-final match. The coaching staff mainly focuses on passing exercises and competing in narrow-range situations.
Evaluating the U22 Philippines, coach Kim Sang-sik said: "We will have to analyze the opponent to prepare carefully for this match. U22 Philippines played first, so they had more recovery time. I will focus on helping our players recover as well as possible.
We hope to reach the final so that we can return to Rajamangala Stadium, where the Vietnamese team won the ASEAN Cup at the beginning of the year".
The semi-final match between U22 Vietnam and U22 Philippines takes place at 3:30 p.m. on December 15.
Meanwhile, the remaining semi-final match between U22 Malaysia and U22 Thailand will take place at 20:00 on December 15.
