On the afternoon of December 13, a representative of the Quang Ngai Department of Health confirmed that a suspected food poisoning incident had just occurred in the province, causing 15 people to be hospitalized for emergency care.
According to initial information, in the afternoon of the same day, 15 people were taken to Phuc Hung Private General Hospital for emergency treatment with symptoms of fever, abdominal pain, diarrhea, vomiting, high fever, and headache.
The patients said that they have used bread at H.V bakery at different locations in Cam Thanh ward, Nghia Lo.
The doctor diagnosed these people as suspected of food poisoning. Of the 15 patients, 8 have been discharged from the hospital, and 7 patients are currently being monitored and treated at the Department of Internal Medicine and the Department of Pediatrics. The patients' health is temporarily stable, with no signs of serious complications.
The cases are being treated according to the food poisoning patch, mainly hydration, electrolytes and antibiotics for patients with high white blood cell index.
Notably, there was a 73-year-old patient with severe progress due to acute kidney failure. There were cases where a family of 4 were hospitalized for emergency care.
The Quang Ngai Department of Health organized an inspection team at the H.V bakery and proposed to temporarily suspend business, pending specific conclusions.
The Food Safety Department and relevant agencies will organize zoning, sealing and taking samples of food suspected of causing poisoning for testing and clarifying the cause.
