Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hai Phong City visits and presents gifts to Agent Orange victims

Hai Phong - On August 10, Mr. Pham Van Lap - Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city visited and presented gifts to victims of Agent Orange/dioxin.

On the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the Agent Orange disaster in Vietnam (August 10, 1961 - August 10, 2026), Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City Pham Van Lap sent greetings, encouragement and gratitude to Agent Orange/dioxin victims, families of people with meritorious services affected by chemical toxins.

In Thanh Dong ward, the delegation visited and presented gifts to Mr. Nguyen Van Quoc (born in 2007), a third-generation victim of chemical toxin sequelae, whose family is in difficult circumstances. Quoc is the nephew of Mr. Nguyen Van Vung (born in 1949, a 55% wounded soldier, 41% infected with chemical toxins).

In Ngo Quyen ward, the delegation visited and presented gifts to Ms. Dang Thi Thuy (born in 1982, a victim of chemical toxins). Ms. Thuy's biological father passed away in 2025; currently she lives with her mother, without a pension.

Expressing deep gratitude to those who participated in the fight and contributed to the cause of national liberation struggle but unfortunately were exposed to and infected with chemical toxins, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City Pham Van Lap emphasized that the losses and damages that the victims and their families have to bear are heavy, long-term and irreparable consequences. Not only those who directly participated in the fight are affected, the consequences of chemical toxins also leave sequelae through many generations, deeply impacting the lives of relatives and descendants of the victims.

The Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city affirmed that expressing gratitude and caring for the lives of people with meritorious services, victims of Agent Orange/dioxin and policy families is the responsibility of the Party, State, the entire political system and the whole society. At the same time, he requested Party committees, authorities, the Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations at all levels to continue to pay attention to fully and promptly implementing the Party and State's guidelines and policies for people with meritorious services and victims of chemical toxins; strengthen mobilization of social resources to care for and support those in difficult circumstances.

The City Association of Victims of Agent Orange/dioxin continues to promote its role as a bridge, proactively grasping the circumstances, thoughts, and aspirations of members; coordinating with localities, agencies, and units to practically implement activities to care for and support victims, especially those who still face many difficulties in life.
