On July 18, at Dong Thap University, the Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation Mobilization of Dong Thap province coordinated with the Provincial Red Cross Society to organize the Red Journey program - Connecting Vietnamese Bloodlines and the Ceremony to honor typical blood donors.
According to the Organizing Committee, this is the 6th year that Dong Thap province has responded and participated in the Red Journey - a national-scale voluntary blood donation campaign.

Speaking at the program, BS.CKII Huynh Minh Phu - Director of Can Tho City Hematology - Blood Transfusion Hospital - said that as a unit receiving, screening, producing and supplying quality blood to medical facilities in the Mekong Delta region, the unit always clearly recognizes its responsibility in ensuring safe, quality and timely blood sources for patients.
Here, on behalf of the Organizing Committee, the Director of Can Tho City Hematology and Blood Transfusion Hospital earnestly called on each individual with sufficient health conditions to actively register to participate in voluntary blood donation.

Ms. Dang Thi Thu Uyen - Chairwoman of the Dong Thap Provincial Red Cross Society, Standing Deputy Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation Mobilization - said that for Dong Thap alone, voluntary blood donation is not just a movement but has become a cultural beauty, a humanitarian gesture actively responded to by a large number of officials, soldiers, union members, youth and people from all walks of life.
According to Ms. Dang Thi Thu Uyen, in 2026, with the theme "Giving Pink Drops - Pink Lotus Shines", this year's Red Journey aims to mobilize and receive over 8,250 units of blood, organize many propaganda activities and blood donation points throughout the province. This is not only an indicator, but also the determination of the entire political system in ensuring safe and timely blood sources for emergency and treatment.

Ms. Tran Kim Duong (born in 1982, My Thuan hamlet, My Tra ward) shared that her family has become a familiar address that the local Red Cross Society regularly contacts whenever there is a humanitarian blood donation campaign. In addition, the family also actively propagates to those around to participate in this humanitarian activity.
The organizing committee also said that in 2026, Dong Thap province has 525 collectives, families and individuals commended and rewarded at all levels for their outstanding achievements in the voluntary blood donation movement and voluntary blood donation mobilization. Among them, 2 families and 1 individual were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Prime Minister for their achievements in voluntary blood donation 70 times; 51 families and 60 individuals were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society for their achievements in blood donation 30 and 40 times...

At the ceremony, the Organizing Committee awarded Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee to 45 families and 128 individuals, and at the same time awarded Certificates of Merit from the Provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation to 28 families and 142 typical individuals.
