On August 19, the 1st Party Congress of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) for the 2025-2030 term took place in Hanoi.
Mr. Do Van Chien - Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Fatherland Front (FFF), Central organizations, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front attended and gave a speech directing the congress.
Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien emphasized the historical significance of the congress, taking place in the context of the entire Party, people and army competing to achieve excellent results to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2, welcoming Party Congresses at all levels towards the 14th National Party Congress.
Comrade Do Van Chien reviewed 5 outstanding achievements of the Party Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor in the recent term:
Firstly, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has gathered and mobilized union members, workers, laborers, the entire people, army and the entire political system, the whole society to overcome the difficult and arduous days of prevention and victory over the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Sitting here now, we feel normal but at that time it was a very difficult problem. In particular, our working class has taken good care of workers and laborers, comrade Do Van Chien reiterated.
Second, the work of caring for, supporting, and improving the material and spiritual life of union members and workers has received special attention with many new and creative ways of doing things and has been highly appreciated by public opinion.
Third, the Trade Union organization has strongly launched emulation movements, accompanying the management board, investors, and key national projects. In particular, workers and laborers have been encouraged to work overtime, increase shifts, improve labor productivity, complete many national key projects ahead of schedule, ensuring quality that is highly appreciated by the Prime Minister.
He especially praised the efforts of workers and engineers on the 500kV line 3 project, showing that Vietnamese workers and engineers have mastered complex technologies.
Fourth, the Party Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has led the review and development of institutions and policies, creating a solid political and legal basis for the activities of the Trade Union organization and implementing the arrangement and streamlining of the organizational apparatus.
Typically, advising the Politburo to issue Resolution No. 02-NQ/TW, dated June 12, 2021 of the Politburo on innovating the organization and operation of Vietnam Trade Union in the new situation; submitting to the National Assembly at the 8th Session to pass the Trade Union Law (amended); proactively and actively participating in amending and supplementing a number of articles of the 2013 Constitution; Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Trade Union Law, the Law on Youth and the Law on Grassroots Democracy.
Comrade Do Van Chien said that currently, the Politburo, the Secretariat, and the Prime Minister are giving very strong instructions to solve the problem of housing for workers and social housing with the 1 million social housing project. Although this has encountered many difficulties, the Trade Union has pioneered and proposed to the Prime Minister to issue a decision and approve the National Assembly to amend the Housing Law to carry out this task. This is a very difficult task but must be done well to take better care of the workers.
Fifth, the Party Committee and the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor have led and directed the successful implementation of Resolution 18 of the Party Central Committee, the direction of the Politburo, the Secretariat, and the superior Party Committees on reorganizing the apparatus according to a new model with the comprehensive leadership of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Party Committee and central organizations operating under the Vietnam Fatherland Front. Thereby, after nearly 2 months, the set goals and requirements have been basically achieved. These are very valuable and proud results in the current context.

Therefore, it is necessary to first of all do a good job of political and ideological work. Each cadre, party member, civil servant, public employee and worker must be clear-minded in their thoughts, have high consensus in their will and actions.
deeply grasp the guiding ideology of General Secretary To Lam at the conference announcing the decision to establish the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front: The new apparatus must have new thinking, new ways of doing things and new results. If the new apparatus still retains the old thinking and methods, it will not be successful and will not achieve the requirements of the revolution of streamlining the apparatus.
At the same time, creatively apply Ho Chi Minh's ideology on "Unexpected reps, constant reps".
