Hanoi donates nearly 40 billion VND to the "For the Poor" Fund

With the spirit of "Hanoi for the whole country, with the whole country for the poor", Hanoi City is determined to eliminate near-poor households in 2025.

On October 30, Hanoi City held a press conference to launch the "Joining hands for the poor and social security" Program in 2025, aiming at the goal of no one being left behind, contributing to building a civilized and humane capital.

According to Mr. Pham Anh Tuan - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee (VFF) of Hanoi City, the program aims to promote the tradition of solidarity, mutual love and support of the nation; create more resources to help the poor, contribute to the completion of the goal of sustainable poverty reduction and ensure social security of the capital.

According to the report of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi, as of October 30, 2025, the Hanoi "Rescue" Fund has allocated 140 billion VND to support families affected by natural disasters, fires, and serious incidents; at the same time, promptly shared and provided relief to people in provinces severely affected by storms No. 10, 11 and floods.

In addition, the "For the Sea and Islands of Vietnam" Fund receives support of 50 - 60 billion VND every year, demonstrating the affection and responsibility of the Party Committee, government, and people of the capital always towards the beloved Truong Sa with practical actions.

In 2024 and the first 9 months of 2025, the "For the Poor" Fund at all levels of Hanoi City supported the construction of 1,034 new houses, repaired 476 houses, donated thousands of production vehicles and household items with a total value of over 69.8 billion VND.

In particular, in 2025 - on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Hanoi Party Committee, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi supported the construction of 89 Great Unity houses in 10 districts, with a total cost of 4.45 billion VND. This is a practical activity to celebrate the Party Congresses at all levels and the Peak Month "For the Poor" in 2025.

At the same time, Hanoi also donated 8.45 billion VND to 690 near-poor households and 1,000 households in especially difficult circumstances, contributing to spreading the spirit of solidarity, caring for social security, creating an exciting atmosphere among the people.

According to the results of the review according to the national multidimensional poverty standard for the period 2022 - 2025, Hanoi currently has 690 near-poor households, which are in great need of support from the community.

The 2025 "Joining hands for the poor and social security" program was launched right after the success of the 18th Hanoi Party Congress, demonstrating the determination of the Party Committee, government and people of the capital in successfully implementing the Congress Resolution, making social security one of the 10 key tasks for the 2025-2030 term.

Mr. Pham Anh Tuan added that Hanoi has made efforts to solve the problem of poverty reduction; currently there are only 690 near-poor households. Hanoi City is focusing on implementing social security activities, giving livelihoods, supporting means of transportation to people with working capacity such as motorbikes, steppers, production vehicles, livestock, sugarcane juice presses, etc.

"In 2025, it is expected to support housing, build Great Unity houses; make every effort to eliminate near-poor households, strive to become a locality with a good income, with excess resources to support other localities", Mr. Tuan shared.

Due to the impact of storm No. 12, Hanoi is mobilizing resources to continue supporting the Central provinces that suffered heavy damage such as Thua Thien Hue, Quang Tri, Da Nang...

Based on the proposal of the Vietnam Fatherland Front for communes with many near-poor households and households in especially difficult circumstances, the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Hanoi has chosen to support at the launching ceremony with a total budget of 9.69 billion VND (nearly 10 billion VND). Specifically: 110 Great Solidarity houses (support level of 50 million VND/house); 110 electric motorbikes (20 million VND/vehicle); 98 breeding cows (20 million VND/head) and 3 stepchads (10 million VND/ machine).

Up to this point, dozens of units, organizations, businesses, and philanthropists have registered to donate nearly 40 billion VND to the "For the Poor" Fund in Hanoi.

The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City informed: in response to the emulation movement "For the poor - No one is left behind" in the period of 2021 - 2025 launched by the Prime Minister, the People's Committee of Hanoi City and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City will coordinate to organize the program "Joining hands for the poor and social security" in 2025 at 8:00 p.m. on November 3, 2025 at the Vietnam - Soviet Friendship Labor Cultural Palace (91 Tran Hung Dao, Hoan Kiem District).
