On September 22, the Women's Union (LHPN) of Lam Dong province said that it had just coordinated with the Women's Union of Xuan Huong ward - Da Lat and philanthropists to organize the presentation of gifts to support 79 households temporarily evacuated from dangerous areas in Dak Snao village, Quang Son commune.
Sharing difficulties with about 450 people during the temporary residence period, the delegation presented rice, instant noodles, mosquito nets, blankets, drinking water, essential necessities and Mid-Autumn gifts. The total value of gifts is nearly 150 million VND.
At the program, Ms. H'Vi Êban - Provincial Party Committee Member, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Chairwoman of the Provincial Women's Union - and representatives of units visited, encouraged and presented gifts to the people.
Previously, after heavy rain on September 17, the hill area in Dak Snao village appeared many cracks, subsidence, and landslides on an area of about 4ha.
This situation threatens the safety of housing and production land, forcing local authorities to urgently relocate people to safe places.
The gifts were given in time to help families reduce difficulties and stabilize their lives during the time they could not return home temporarily.
As Lao Dong Newspaper has reported, the situation of subsidence and land cracks in Dak Snao village, Quang Son commune, affects 79 households with 454 people. The locality has organized the relocation of people from dangerous areas.
The affected area is more than 4ha wide, with an average subsidence depth of about 20cm. The cracks extend about 300m along the hillside and residential areas, 6-17cm wide and tend to continue to expand.
To date, no casualties have been recorded. However, land subsidence and cracking have affected people's houses and production land.
The locality arranged an evacuation area of about 3,000m2, building 9 temporary houses. On the night of September 17, 215 people including the elderly, women and children were relocated to safe places.
Chairman of the People's Council of Lam Dong province Luu Van Trung inspected the reality, requested the locality to ensure safety, take care of people's lives and study resettlement plans in appropriate areas.
Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee has also issued a decision announcing an emergency situation of natural disaster in Dak Snao village, Quang Son commune, and at the same time assigned departments, branches and localities to implement response measures, overcome consequences, and ensure safety and stability of people's lives.
