On July 11, at Brigade 125, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City organized a program to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Fund "For the Sea and Islands of the Homeland - For the Front of the Fatherland" (2009 - 2024) and summarized the work of mobilizing and managing the Fund "For the Poor" and the Relief Fund in 2024.
Speaking at the summary ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, assessed that after 15 years of operation of the Fund "For the homeland's sea and islands - For the Fatherland's front line", the unit has not only stopped at being an initiative of a locality, but also actively participated "for the whole country, for the whole country".
Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc acknowledged that Ho Chi Minh City has fully and completely implemented the gratitude policy and the meritorious person policy through solidarity activities of all classes of people.
Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc also respectfully acknowledged and thanked you for your silent contributions and gratitude to the officers and soldiers of the Vietnam Navy, Border Guard, Armed Forces, and People's Public Security who have fought day and night, working together to build and defend the Fatherland.
According to the report, after 15 years of establishment, the Fund has mobilized active participation from all classes of people, contributing to building a solid "people's heart posture" on the border and islands of the Fatherland.
From 2009 to 2024, the Front system at all levels has mobilized a total of more than 552 billion VND, organized over 300 working groups to the border and islands; and implemented hundreds of civil works.
Including some typical projects such as 105 "Warm homes for the poor in the border area"; 19 "Sweet water in the border area"; 50 billion VND for the program "For a green Truong Sa"; organized 11 live TV programs on HTV "Towards the border, the sea and islands of the Fatherland".
In 2024, the Ho Chi Minh City Delegation visited Truong Sa, DKI displacement houses and the Southwest sea area, presented works and gifts worth more than 41 billion VND, contributing to giving strength to forces on remote islands.
Regarding the "For the Poor" Fund, in 2024, more than 230.9 billion VND was mobilized; 222.6 billion VND was spent on care. Build and repair 575 houses for poor households and households in difficult circumstances with a total cost of VND28.2 billion, exceeding the set target, awarding 2,629 scholarships, giving 86 livelihood vehicles, 2,283 health insurance cards to disadvantaged people.
The Relief Fund also provided emergency support to localities affected by storm No. 3 - Yagi (North) with a total cost of over 332 billion VND, 280 tons of goods.
On this occasion, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City also honored and rewarded many individuals and groups with outstanding contributions to activities towards seas and islands and relief and social security work in 2024; doctors and nurses participating in the medical examination team in Truong Sa.
