Vietnam Fatherland Front of Ho Chi Minh City receives more than 372 billion VND in relief goods for people in flood-hit areas

HCMC - The Vietnam Fatherland Front of HCMC received more than 372 billion VND in relief goods, promptly supporting provinces to overcome damage caused by natural disasters.

On November 27, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City for the 2024-2029 term held a second conference to inform about the progress of preparations for the 1st Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Ho Chi Minh City for the 2025-2030 term.

In her opening speech, Ms. Truong Thi Bich Hanh, member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, said that up to now, the organization of the congress has been basically completed and the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Ho Chi Minh City has reported on this work.

The 1st Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front of the city, term 2025-2030, is scheduled to take place for 1.5 days (November 29 and 30), at the Binh Duong Exhibition Convention Center (HCMC).

Total expected number of delegates: 880 people, including 500 official delegates and 380 guests. Committee personnel project: Number of committee members is 168, at the General Meeting of Commerce 146 members. Standing Committee: Comprises 9 members, kept the same compared to the 2024-2029 term.

Non-professional Vice President: Including 7 people (keeping the same), at the General Meeting of Commerce 6 people, ensuring quantity, standards and representative structure.

Delegation attending the National Congress: The Ho Chi Minh City Delegation attending the National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front for the 2026 - 2031 term is allocated 30 official delegates and is expected to have 2 absent delegates.

Before the congress, on November 28, the delegates will officially participate in many meaningful activities such as offering incense at the Ho Chi Minh monument and martyrs' cemetery, opening the photo exhibition "Vietnam Fatherland Front - The Power of National Great Unity", along with social security activities and implementing the project "Grand unity Garden".

Along with preparing for the congress, the frontline system at all levels has focused on activities to support provinces affected by consecutive storms.

The Ho Chi Minh City Relief Mobilization Committee has called for and established 18 reception points at socio-political organizations, the City Red Cross Society and 14 Metro Line 1 stations. At the same time, instruct the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees at the commune and ward levels to simultaneously open reception points at the local level.

Regarding the relief results, as of November 25, the Mobilization Committee has received 41,774 donations with a total amount of more than 282 billion VND. By 10:00 on November 26, 29,000 bags of household medicine and 3,810 tons of essential necessities had been received, with a total value of more than 372.6 billion VND.

The amount of money distributed to support the provinces to overcome the damage is 190,600,000,000 VND, along with the transfer of 29,000 bags of household medicine and 3,810 tons of goods worth more than 372.6 billion VND.

The front system is also preparing to organize the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026 - 2031 term. Immediately after the congress, the first consultation will be held to agree on the structure, composition, and number of candidates for these elections.
