On the occasion of the 64th anniversary of the orange-skinned disaster in Vietnam (August 10, 1961-10. August 2025), the Day for victims of Agent Orange (August 10), on the evening of August 5, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Association of victims of Agent Orange/dioxin in coordination with the Office of the Standing Agency of the National Steering Committee for Overcoming the consequences of Bomb Mines and Chemical Toxins after the War in Vietnam (Offices 701), the Army Radio and Television Center organized the Exchange - Art Program "According to the dawn".
Attending the program were Mr. Do Van Chien - Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Central organizations, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; Mr. Tran Thanh Lam - Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department; Senior Lieutenant General Truong Thien To - Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army; Lieutenant General Nguyen Huu Chinh - Member of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Chairman of the Association of victims of Agent Orange/dioxin Vietnam; leaders of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Ministry of National Defense; leaders of central departments, ministries and branches.
With the theme "Synthesis - Integration", the Exchange - Art Program "Following the dawn" aims to promote and spread effective livelihood support models, helping victims and their families overcome difficulties and integrate into the community. This is also an occasion to commend and express gratitude to domestic and foreign organizations and individuals who have accompanied and joined hands to soothe the pain of orange skin; encourage the victims, with a strong desire to live, supported by the community, who have not given up on fate, inspiring them to strive to overcome difficulties and rise up.
Speaking at the program, Lieutenant General Nguyen Huu Chinh, Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Agent Orange/dioxin Victims, said that the "Following the Sun" program was organized to widely promote and raise public awareness of the severe and persistent consequences of chemical toxins in the war in Vietnam. At the same time, the program also affirms the deep concern of the Party, the State, and the entire political system; reflects the valuable support and assistance of the people, organizations, individuals, and domestic and international philanthropists who have accompanied, shared, and contributed to overcoming the consequences of chemical toxins, caring for, and helping victims of Agent Orange.
"That support is the source of light, the light of humanity, of affection and responsibility, contributing to soothing the pain of orange skin, lighting up hope and opening up the revival journey for unfortunate fates. Let's be like the bright dawn, spreading the spirit of "Mutual love", "Remember the tree growers" - the noble human values of the Vietnamese people", Lieutenant General Nguyen Huu Chinh affirmed.
According to Lieutenant General Nguyen Huu Chinh, there are still millions of victims of Agent Orange nationwide, of which only more than 626,000 people are entitled to the regime of "resistance fighters and children infected with toxic chemicals". Many families with 3 to 4 victims are living in poverty and illness, many families are exhausted. The victims' mothers and wives still silently cried, taking care of their husbands and children day and night in their unforgettable pain, and in their life full of hardship and difficulties.
In the journey to relieve the pain of orange skin, the Association of victims of orange/dioxin poisoning at all levels has regularly received deep attention from the Party, State, Vietnam Fatherland Front, Party committees and local authorities. In 2024 and the first 6 months of 2025, the Association of victims of Agent Orange/dioxin nationwide has mobilized and received support and help from many domestic and international organizations, businesses and philanthropists.
"Through the program, we call on all levels, sectors, socio-political organizations, all classes of people, overseas Vietnamese and international friends to continue to strongly respond to the Movement "Act for victims of Agent Orange" launched by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front", Lieutenant General Nguyen Huu Chinh emphasized.
At the program, the Organizing Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to collective units and individuals with achievements in supporting victims of Agent Orange; received support from organizations, individuals, television audiences nationwide, and international friends to join hands to contribute and help victims of Agent Orange.
At the program, the Organizing Committee received support from many organizations and individuals with a total value of more than 2.5 billion VND, and called for joint contributions and help for victims of Agent Orange by using a payment application, transferring direct support to the account number of 1961 of the Vietnam Agent Orange/dioxin Victim Fund at the Military Joint Stock Commercial Bank (MB). All donation information will be made public and transparent on the program's website, at the MB Charity Platform.
Lieutenant General Nguyen Huu Chinh affirmed: The Vietnam Association of victims of Agent Orange/dioxin is committed to ensuring that all donations will be used in accordance with the provisions of law, for the right purposes, transparently and to the right beneficiaries.
