Speaking to the press on August 5, US President Donald Trump emphasized his stance to end Washington's role in the Ukrainian conflict - a hot topic in his foreign policy since his re-election.
This is Joe Bidens war, not mine. I am here to get the United States out of it, Trump said when asked about the recent developments in Ukraine.
The statement comes as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has just signed a law allowing people over 60 to serve in the army under contracts - a clear effort to increase human resources amid the escalating conflict.
When asked about Ukraine's decision, Trump responded: "I haven't heard of allowing a 60-year-old man to join the army... but this is Mr. Biden's war, and we are working very hard to get the United States out of it."
Mr. Trump also did not hesitate to emphasize his role as a global fire extinguisher: I have stopped 5 wars in just the past 5 months, and I want this to be the 6th one.
In another notable development, US special forces agent Steve Witkoff is expected to visit Moscow on August 6 to meet with Russian leaders.
The US State Department has not yet released an official schedule, but spokesman Tammy Bruce has confirmed that Witkoff will visit Russia this week. However, she refused to disclose details about the work schedule as well as the purpose of the trip.
A source from TASS also confirmed information about the trip on August 6. Previously, President Donald Trump himself said that his special missionary could arrive in Russia on August 6 or 7.
