On June 8, 2026, the opening ceremony of the IX National Congress of the Vietnam Farmers' Union, term 2026 - 2031, took place.
Speaking at the opening of the Congress, Comrade Luong Quoc Doan - Member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union affirmed: Looking back at the journey of formation and development, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the great President Ho Chi Minh, the peasant class and the Vietnam Farmers' Union have always followed the Party wholeheartedly, with a strong patriotism, self-reliance, and aspiration to rise up; constantly growing stronger in terms of politics, ideology and organization; making great contributions to the cause of national liberation, construction and defense of the Fatherland.
In the first half of the past term, under the leadership of the Party, the effective management of the State; the coordination of the Fatherland Front, departments, ministries, branches, mass organizations and the companionship of the business community, cadres, members, and farmers nationwide, the tradition of diligence, creativity, spirit of solidarity, will to self-reliance and self-strengthening, and efforts to overcome difficulties and challenges, many important achievements have been made.
The work of building and consolidating the Association organization was deployed synchronously; the arrangement and consolidation of the organizational structure and cadres of the Association at all levels were carried out drastically and effectively, in accordance with the new organizational model; most of the main targets were achieved and exceeded the plan, many targets achieved high results; the work of advising and proposing mechanisms and policies achieved many important results, and the Prime Minister decided to approve 4 Projects, creating a basis and motivation for breakthrough and innovation of the Association's activities and the farmers' movement.
The IX National Congress of the Vietnam Farmers' Union takes place in the context of our country entering a new stage of development, with opportunities, advantages and challenges intertwined.
Farmers' Associations at all levels are proactively and actively implementing the Resolution of the 14th Party Congress and strategic resolutions of the Politburo. At the same time, continue to strongly implement Resolution No. 46-NQ/TW of the Politburo on innovating and improving the quality of activities of the Vietnam Farmers' Association to meet the requirements of revolutionary tasks in the new period; concretizing the direction of General Secretary and President To Lam on the Vietnam Farmers' Association focusing on developing "green rural livelihoods - digital agriculture - value chains", associated with the development of collective economy and cooperatives, meeting the requirements of innovating the Association's work and the farmers' movement in the new period.
Therefore, the requirement for all levels of the Vietnam Farmers' Union is to strongly innovate the content and methods, improve the quality and efficiency of operations; play a good role in representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of members and farmers; promote the role of a solid bridge between farmers and the Party and State; participate in building the Party, the political system, and the great national unity bloc on the foundation of consolidating the "worker - farmer - intellectual" alliance; proactively integrate and improve the effectiveness of international cooperation and people-to-people diplomacy; contribute to the development of ecological agriculture, modern rural areas, civilized farmers, and join hands to develop the country quickly and sustainably.
