Speaking to direct the Congress, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong, Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly emphasized that since its establishment in 2004, through 22 years of operation, the Vietnam Association of Former Youth Volunteers has truly become a warm and meaningful common home for generations of former Youth Volunteers nationwide.
In the past term, although the age of members has been increasing, their health has declined, and they have faced many difficulties and challenges, especially the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the association levels have always been united, persistent, and dedicated.
The Association has fulfilled its role as a historical witness, actively participating in coordinating the settlement of regimes and policies for comrades; effectively implementing the movement "For comradeship", promptly supporting and caring for the material and spiritual life of members in difficult circumstances, policy families, the elderly, and lonely people.
In particular, according to Conclusion No. 230 dated January 5, 2026 of the Politburo, the Secretariat on the Project on arranging and streamlining the apparatus of mass associations assigned tasks by the Party and State, the Association of Former Youth Volunteers continues to be honored as one of 29 mass associations trusted by the Party and State to be assigned tasks.
To effectively implement the goals of the 2026 - 2031 term, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong proposed that the Congress focus on a number of key tasks.
Accordingly, continue to build a strong Association organization; improve the quality of propaganda, education and promote the tradition of Youth Volunteers; promote the Campaign "Former Youth Volunteers set a bright example in studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality, and style"; actively participate in patriotic emulation movements, participate in building the Party, State and the great national unity bloc, contributing to educating and fostering the young generation.
Further promote the role of historical witnesses; coordinate with ministries and sectors to advise and propose solutions to regimes and policies for Youth Volunteers, especially those who no longer have original papers, Youth Volunteers participating after 1975; promote the consideration and posthumous awarding of glorious Youth Volunteer Medals to Youth Volunteers who completed their tasks in the two resistance wars to protect the Fatherland.
Continue to care for the lives of union members; promote the good implementation of two major movements: "For comradeship, each former Youth Volunteer does many good deeds" and the movement "Former Youth Volunteers do economics well for comradeship"; pay attention to and promptly support members in difficult circumstances so that the Association is truly a warm common home for former Youth Volunteers.
Promoting digital transformation, innovating the Association's operating methods in a practical, closer and more effective direction; gradually building and updating the association member database; strengthening information connections between association levels; applying digital platforms in propaganda, policy dissemination, grasping the thoughts, aspirations, and circumstances of members and deploying comradeship activities; paying attention to guiding and supporting members to access and use essential digital services to make digital transformation truly a tool to serve members, helping the Association's activities to be more timely, practical and effective.
Promoting the role of members of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; actively participating in patriotic emulation movements, economic, cultural and social activities; participating in building the Party, government, supervising and social criticism, contributing to consolidating the great national unity bloc and successfully implementing national development tasks...
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong requested the Party Committee of the Fatherland Front, central mass organizations; the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Party committees at all levels, authorities, ministries, and sectors to continue to pay attention and create conditions for the Association to operate more and more effectively, better meeting the legitimate aspirations of members.
With the glorious tradition of the Youth Volunteer force, with the spirit of solidarity, responsibility and comradeship, I believe that the new term of the Vietnam Association of Former Youth Volunteers will continue to innovate the content and methods of operation, take better care of members and make positive contributions to the cause of building and protecting the Fatherland" - Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Hong emphasized.
