From preventing and fighting the COVID-19 epidemic to eliminating temporary houses: The mark of the Fatherland Front in the period of 2020-2025

Helping, helping our compatriots overcome difficulties

Faced with the unprecedented and complex developments of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Presidium and the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front have organized 3 calls for and deployed mobilization work to support the work of preventing and fighting the COVID-19 epidemic. The Social Mobilization and Mobilization Subcommittee has organized a campaign to raise funds "All people unite, strive to prevent and combat the COVID-19 epidemic"; coordinated with member organizations, ministries, branches and agencies of the Central Committee to launch and implement many programs to mobilize people to participate in preventing and fighting the COVID-19 epidemic; coordinated to organize many campaign messages "All people support COVID-19 prevention and control" and implemented the program "Millions of gifts of Great Unity to support the Southern people to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic".

The entire system of the Fatherland Front has called for and mobilized funds and goods worth over VND 15,015 billion to support COVID-19 prevention and control work, of which the amount of funds received through the Central Relief Mobilization Committee to support the vacinne Fund and epidemic prevention and control work is VND 2,789 billion. The organization of calling for, mobilizing, receiving, managing, and allocating land use is carried out strictly, publicly, transparently, and without errors.

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the historic victory of Dien Bien Phu (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2024), the Vietnam Fatherland Front has developed and implemented a Project on mobilizing social resources to support the construction of Great Unity houses for poor households in Dien Bien province and the Northwest, affirming the strong innovation in the implementation of activities to support the poor and social security. After only 9 months since its launch, the Program has completed the target of 5,000 houses for poor households in Dien Dien province and 940 solidarity houses for poor households in 5 localities in the Northwest region.

Also in 2024, the Vietnam Fatherland Front launched, called for, and mobilized domestic and foreign agencies, businesses, organizations, and individuals to donate over VND 5,303 billion to join hands to support people in 26 northern provinces and cities to overcome the consequences of storm No. 3 (Yagi), of which the budget received through the Central Relief Mobilization Committee is VND 2,675 billion.

Performing well the task of being the focal point for receiving, managing and using support funds

In particular, the Fatherland Front system and its member organizations have made many contributions to the completion of the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses.

On August 26, 2025, at the Conference summarizing the Emulation Movement "The whole country joins hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses", Central Party Committee member, Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Ha Thi Nga informed about the achievements of the Vietnam Fatherland Front system in implementing the "Special National Project" to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses.

Vice President Ha Thi Nga said that through the channel of grasping the people's situation of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the overwhelming majority of people of all classes in the country and overseas Vietnamese; the business community, the team of cadres, civil servants, public employees, and workers all expressed their agreement to respond and highly appreciated the initiatives and policies of the whole country to join hands in implementing the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in 2025. This is the special and timely attention of the leaders of the Party, State, National Assembly, Government, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front for a part of the people with difficult lives and social policy beneficiaries.

Informing the Conference about some typical results of the Fatherland Front system and member organizations in completing the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, Vice President Ha Thi Nga mentioned 4 important highlights:

Firstly, the Front and its member organizations have coordinated to launch, call for, and at the same time propagate and mobilize all people to participate in implementing the Program.

At the central level, on April 13, 2024, in Hoa Binh province, the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front coordinated with the Central Emulation and Reward Council to launch an Emulation Movement, and at the same time issued a call with the theme "Millions of hearts of love - Keeping the roof of a happy house"; on October 5, 2024, at the Hanoi Opera House, the Presidium coordinated with the Government to organize a program to launch a support campaign with the theme "Warm home for my compatriots".

In the locality, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees at all levels have coordinated to advise the Steering Committees to organize the Launching Ceremony to respond and support the Program, issue a Call for Mobilization to all levels, sectors, each household, each residential area.

Second, the Front and its member organizations strive to participate in mobilizing and mobilizing resources, spreading the spirit of volunteerism, calling on the mass forces to join hands to support the construction of houses for households with many models and methods of doing things that are very proactive and creative.

Implement the motto of the Prime Minister: "Whoever has something to contribute, whoever has merits to contribute, whoever has property to contribute, whoever has a lot to contribute a lot, whoever has little to contribute a little". At the central level, the Front has coordinated to mobilize businesses, organizations and individuals to donate over 350 billion VND; locally, the Front, together with the member agencies of the Steering Committee, organized to call on organizations and individuals to mobilize support for funding and materials, especially mobilizing a large number of union members and members of the Farmers' Association, Women's Union, Youth Union, Veterans' Union... together with the Army and Police forces to support millions of working days to help families build houses.

Third, the Vietnam Fatherland Front has performed well its task of being the focal point for receiving and managing the use of support funds from organizations and individuals through the "For the Poor" Fund to deploy support to the people.

To facilitate the support of housing construction funds, the Prime Minister has proposed that the Front receive and use funds through the "For the Poor" Fund at all levels.

According to the report of the Central Steering Committee, the budget mobilized for the program is over VND24,200 billion, most of which is received through the local Fund for the Poor. Up to now, no errors have been detected in the management and use of funding sources in the Mobilization Committees at all levels.

Fourth, the Vietnam Fatherland Front has synchronously deployed the work of supervising the implementation of the State's policies on housing support and the implementation of the Program.

The Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front has issued a Plan to supervise the implementation of housing support policies for people with revolutionary contributions, poor households, and near-poor households; instruct the Front Committees of provinces and cities to conduct inspections and supervision, ensuring proper support for the target, fairness, publicity, and transparency. At the same time, the Front Committees at all levels promptly took forms of thanks, gratitude, encouragement, and reward for units, organizations, and individuals who have made many contributions to the program.

In the period of 2020-2025, the Vietnam Fatherland Front system has synchronously and effectively implemented emulation movements and major campaigns, contributing to strengthening the great national unity bloc. from the front line of fighting the COVID-19 epidemic to the national project "Eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses", the spirit of "Party - people's heart" continues to be affirmed by specific and practical results, aiming at the goal of no one being left behind.
