On August 26, at the Government headquarters, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh - Head of the Central Steering Committee for the implementation of the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide - chaired a national online conference to summarize the program and emulation movement "The whole country joins hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in 2025".
Also attending at the Hanoi bridge were Politburo members, Party Central Committee Secretaries: Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien; Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee Nguyen Trong Nghia. Also attending was Politburo member: Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh. Also attending were Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Tran Luu Quang, Deputy Prime Ministers; leaders of central departments, ministries and branches.
At the conference, Minister of Ethnic Minorities and Religions Dao Ngoc Dung reported on the summary of the program and emulation movement "The whole country joins hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses".
Resolution No. 42 of the 13th Party Central Committee on continuing to innovate and improve the quality of social policies, meeting the requirements of the cause of building and defending the Fatherland in the new period sets a goal of striving to basically eliminate temporary housing by 2030, basically no more poor households.
In order to prevent anyone from being "left behind", the emulation movement "The whole country joins hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide" was launched by the Prime Minister on April 13, 2024 in Hoa Binh province.

By August 2024, statistics compiled from reports from ministries, branches and localities showed that the whole country still has more than 300,000 households still having to live in temporary and dilapidated houses that are unsafe, of which about 104,000 households have meritorious services to the revolution.
Applying the new thinking and approach of "The State plays a leading role, activating social resources", on the evening of October 5, 2024, in Hanoi, the Prime Minister continued to launch a program to support the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide with the theme "Warm home for my compatriots". The goal is to basically complete the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses before October 31, 2025.
At the beginning of this year, the Prime Minister directed all levels, sectors and localities to focus on implementing a 350-day and night peak period to successfully implement the program "The whole country joins hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses" with the spirit of "Who has something helps everyone, who has meritorious services helps others, who has property helps others, who has a lot helps a lot, who has little helps a little.
Each house is a gift, a home, demonstrating responsibility, love, national affection, compatriotism, and sharing of the whole community.
On June 8, the Prime Minister signed and issued Official Dispatch 84, requesting "more drastic, more rapid, more effective", focusing on completing the goal of eliminating temporary houses in dilapidated houses nationwide before August 31.
According to reports from localities on updated software until August 18 just announced by the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions, 34/34 localities have basically completed the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses.
The whole country has supported the construction and repair of 334,234 houses (255,310 newly built houses and 78,924 repaired houses), mobilized 24,761.596 billion VND and 2,738,754 working days with 454,318 people.
The beneficiaries include people with revolutionary contributions; poor households and near-poor households under the two national target programs (sustainable poverty reduction; socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas); poor households and near-poor households outside the above two support groups.
