According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 7:00 PM on July 2, the center of the tropical depression was located at about 17.5 degrees North latitude - 111.1 degrees East longitude, in the sea area northwest of the Hoang Sa special zone, about 180km south-southeast of Hainan Island (China). The strongest wind near the center of the tropical depression is strong at level 7 (50-61 km/h), gusting at level 9; moving in the West direction at a speed of about 20 km/h.
Forecast for the next 24 hours, the tropical depression will move in the Northwest direction at a speed of about 10 km/h, with the possibility of strengthening into a storm. By 7:00 PM on July 3, the storm's center will be located at about 19 degrees North latitude - 109.8 degrees East longitude; over Hainan Island (China).
The strongest wind in the area near the storm center is level 8, gusting to level 10. The dangerous area is at about 16 degrees North latitude - 20 degrees North latitude; 108.5 degrees East longitude - 114 degrees East longitude. The disaster risk level is level 3 for the western part of the Northern East Sea area (including the Hoang Sa special zone).
Forecast for the next 48 hours, the storm will move in a Northwest direction at a speed of about 10-15 km/h. By 7:00 PM on July 4th, the storm's center will be located at about 21.0 degrees North latitude - 108 degrees East longitude; over the Northern Gulf of Tonkin area.
The strongest wind near the storm center is at level 8, gusting at level 10. The dangerous area is at about 17 degrees North latitude - 22 degrees North latitude; 107 degrees East longitude - 112 degrees East longitude. The disaster risk level is level 3 for the northwestern sea area of the Northern East Sea; the area of the Northern Gulf of Tonkin (including Bach Long Vy, Van Don, Co To, Cat Hai, Hon Dau island special zone).
Warning from 48 to 72 hours, the storm will move in a North-Northwest direction, traveling 10-15 km per hour and gradually weakening into a tropical depression, then continue to weaken into a low pressure area.
Regarding the impact of the tropical depression/storm, the sea area west of the Northern East Sea (including the Hoang Sa special zone) has strong winds of level 6-7, then increasing to level 8-9, sea waves are 2-4m high, the area near the storm center is 3-5m high, very rough seas. From the night of July 3, the sea area of the Northern Gulf (including Bach Long Vy special zone, Van Don, Co To, Cat Hai island Hon Dau) will gradually have strong winds of level 6-7, the area near the storm center passing through level 8, gusts of level 9-10, sea waves are 2-4m high, rough seas.
Ships operating in the above-mentioned dangerous areas are likely to be affected by thunderstorms, tornadoes, strong winds, and large waves.
On land, from the night of July 3rd to the end of July 5th, in the Northeast region and Thanh Hoa, there is a possibility of a widespread heavy rain with a common total rainfall of about 100-200mm, especially in the Northeast region 150-250mm, locally over 350mm.
