Updated bulletin issued at 4:00 PM on May 28 from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, through monitoring on satellite images, lightning positioning data and weather radar images, it shows that some convective clouds are forming and developing in the area of wards/communes: Phuc Thinh, Dong Anh, Phu Dong, Vinh Thanh, Viet Hung. The cloud area tends to move slowly to the north and expand to neighboring wards/communes.
In the period from 10 minutes to 3 hours, wards in inner Hanoi such as: Viet Hung, Bo De, Hong Ha, Phu Thuong, Tay Ho... will have rain, showers and possibly thunderstorms. The thunderstorm area may expand to other wards in the center of Hanoi city. In thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind.
The meteorological agency forecasts that from the evening of May 28 to May 29, the Northern and North Central regions will have scattered showers and thunderstorms with rainfall of 15 - 30mm, locally heavy rain over 80mm. Rain will be concentrated in the late afternoon and night.
The area from Khanh Hoa, Lam Dong and Southern Vietnam from this evening to May 29, is forecast to have showers and scattered thunderstorms with rainfall of 15 - 30mm, locally heavy rain over 70mm.
Other places in the Central Highlands region have scattered showers and thunderstorms with rainfall of 10 - 20mm, locally heavy rain over 50mm. Rain concentrated in the afternoon and evening.

Localized heavy rain is likely to cause flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on slopes and flooding in low-lying areas.
