On June 5, the Department of Agriculture and Environment (DONRE) of Ben Tre province coordinated with the Provincial Farmers' Association and the People's Committee of Mo Cay Nam district to organize a launching ceremony in response to World Environment Day 5.6; responding to the "Planting Uncle Ho's Commemoration Trees" Movement and contributing to the successful implementation of the Ben Tre Province Green Tree Planting Project for the period 2021 - 2025.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Mr. Vo Van Ngoan - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ben Tre province - acknowledged that Ben Tre still has many difficulties and challenges that need attention: In some places, the environmental pollution caused by household waste has not been completely resolved, such as at An Hiep Wharf (Ba Tri district), Ben Tre Waste Treatment Plant area and landfills in the districts. The habit of using plastic at one time is still popular in daily life; the infrastructure for garbage collection and recycling is still limited; there is a lack of mechanisms and policies to support green businesses.
According to Mr. Ngoan, the reason is that the waste treatment process is still outdated; plastic waste has not been thoroughly treated and reused. Plastic waste pollution also comes from the fact that people are not really interested in classifying waste and often throw waste in the wrong place.

In order to effectively implement the goal of building Ben Tre Green - Clean - Sustainable Development, on the occasion of the World Environment Day in 2025, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ben Tre Province, Mr. Vo Van Ngoan - suggest provincial departments and agencies; localities and people continue to control and effectively solve spontaneous gathering points that pollute the environment in the province. At the same time, it is necessary to regularly dredge and treat pollution in canals, canals and environments in the public field; check and strictly handle cases of discharge waste in the wrong place; Support new investment or upgrade and renovate medical waste incinerators that are degraded for hospitals and medical centers, in order to continue effectively maintain 100% of hazardous medical waste.
In addition, it is necessary to urgently implement the restructuring plan of Ben Tre waste treatment plant, expected to be put into operation in 2027 to receive and treat waste of the province. Pay attention to solving environmental issues at the landfills of the districts. At the same time, deploying waste classification at the source in accordance with the Law on Environmental Protection 2020, ensuring consistent with the actual conditions of each region and region; contribute effectively in recovery, reuse, recycling plastic waste, minimizing environmental pollution. Gradually invest, complete infrastructure for collecting, transporting and treating waste after classification to ensure the classification of waste at source is feasible and long -term effectiveness.
On this occasion, the organizing committee planted 400 tamarind trees along DX 05 road, in An Dinh and An Thoi communes (Mo Cay Nam district, Ben Tre province).
