According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, last night and on July 21, the Northeast region, the Northern Delta, the Northwest region and the provinces from Thanh Hoa to Quang Tri had scattered showers and thunderstorms, some places had heavy to very heavy rain; the coastal areas of the North had moderate to heavy rain.
The Northeast region, the Northern Delta, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An from the evening of July 21 to July 23, are forecast to have heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorms, with total rainfall generally 200 - 350mm, some places over 600mm.
Other areas in the North and Ha Tinh will have moderate rain, heavy rain, locally very heavy rain with common rainfall of 100 - 200mm, some places over 300mm. Warning of a high risk of rain with a large intensity of over 150mm within 3 hours.
The meteorological agency forecasts that from the night of July 23 to July 25, the Northern and North Central regions will continue to have the possibility of moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, with some places having very heavy rain.
The area from Quang Tri to Da Nang, the Central and Southern Plateau areas on the night of July 21 and 22 is forecast to have scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain, with rainfall of 10 - 30mm, some places over 70mm. The rain will mainly be concentrated in the afternoon and evening.
The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting warns that thunderstorms may cause tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. The warning level of natural disaster risk due to heavy rain, tornadoes, lightning, and hail is level 1.
Prolonged heavy rain risks causing flooding in low-lying areas, urban areas, industrial parks; risk of flash floods on small rivers and streams; landslides on steep slopes.
