TRANG ANH - HUYỀN TRANG |

It is forecasted that after November 21, the rain will decrease and floods on rivers will recede faster, but widespread flooding in Gia Lai, Dak Lak and Khanh Hoa will continue.

The prolonged heavy rain has greatly affected the lives and production of people in the Central region.

In the context of complicated floods, Mr. Hoang Phuc Lam - Deputy Director of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, Department of Hydro-Meteorology - made a assessment of the end of the current rainy season, and warned of the possibility of more dangerous weather patterns appearing in the coming days.

How do you evaluate the unusual manifestations of this heavy rain and flood in the South Central region?

- This is a very heavy rain, lasting for many days in the South Central region (from around the night of November 17, 2025 to present, before that there was rain in the North Central region) after consecutive heavy rains in October and early November.

Especially with the cold air weather combined with winter waves, there have been periods of very extreme rain in a short time in localities from Quang Tri to Khanh Hoa. For example: Son Thanh Tay and Son Thanh Dong; Hoa My Tay, Son Long, Son Dinh, Song Hinh all recorded 1,000 - 1,200mm.

Due to the impact of heavy rain, right after previous floods, hydroelectric reservoirs operate to release water, the groundwater level on rivers in the area is already high. Therefore, during this flood, many rivers have reached historic floodwaters.

Sir, when will the rain decrease and the flooding end?

- Floods are gradually receding on almost all rivers in the South Central region, except for Dinh Ninh Hoa River, Cai Phan Rang River (Khanh Hoa), and Krong Ana River (Dak Lak).

It is forecasted that after November 21, the rain will decrease, floods on rivers will decrease faster. However, widespread flooding in Gia Lai, Dak Lak, and Khanh Hoa provinces will continue after the rain and floods have decreased.

Floods on rivers and inundation in low-lying areas affect activities such as waterway transportation, aquaculture, agricultural production, people's lives and socio-economic activities.
