According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, there is currently a cold air mass moving south from the north.
Around May 24, this cold air mass will affect the Northeast. From May 24, the North will be cool.
The lowest temperature in this cold air mass in the North is generally from 21 - 23 degrees Celsius, in high mountainous areas it is below 20 degrees Celsius. The average temperature is about 24 - 26 degrees Celsius.
The Hanoi area is cool. The lowest temperature in this cold air mass is generally 22 - 24 degrees Celsius.
From around May 25, cold air will be strengthened to affect the North Central region and some places in the Northwest.
On land, the wind will shift to the northeast level 2 - 3, coastal areas level 3.
Regarding another notable phenomenon, due to the influence of cold air compressing the low pressure trough, from the night of May 23 to the night of May 24, the Northern and North Central regions will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, locally very heavy rain.
Thunderstorms accompanied by tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind can affect agricultural production, break trees, damage houses, traffic works and infrastructure.
Heavy rain is likely to cause flooding in low-lying areas; flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes.
Heavy rain in a short period of time caused flooding in urban areas and industrial parks.
At sea, from May 24, north of the Gulf of Tonkin, the northern sea area of the North East Sea will have winds shifting to northeast level 4 - 5, sometimes level 6, gusting to level 7, rough seas. Waves are 1.5 - 2.5m high.
Strong winds and gusts, large waves at sea are likely to affect the operation of ships and other activities.
