On July 29, the Steering Committee for Civil Defense of Lam Dong province said that localities are urgently overcoming the consequences of the prolonged heavy rain from July 27.
According to preliminary statistics, rain and floods did not cause casualties but affected 104 houses. Among them, 98 houses were deeply flooded from 0.3 - 1.5m and 6 houses in Ward 3 Bao Loc had to be urgently relocated due to the risk of landslides.
Heavy rain also caused about 705 hectares of crops, mainly rice, fruit trees, mulberry and durian, to be flooded in localities such as Ward 3 Bao Loc, Ward B'Lao, Da Teh, Nghi Duc, Bac Ruong, Nam Thanh and Dam Rong 1.
Provincial road 721 was also locally flooded, many rural traffic routes and residential areas experienced landslides; some bridges, culverts and canals were damaged. Initial total damage is estimated at about 5 billion VND.
Immediately after the natural disaster occurred, local authorities coordinated with police and military forces to mobilize local forces to support people to evacuate and relocate property, ensuring safety.
Units are focusing on clearing landslide soil and rocks, clearing waterways, ensuring traffic and statistics of damage to implement support policies according to regulations.
According to forecasts, heavy rain is still likely to last until the end of July 30. Functional agencies continue to warn of the risk of flooding in low-lying areas and landslides in hilly and weak geological areas; and at the same time advise people to proactively monitor weather developments and limit movement through dangerous areas.
