Worry every time the rainy season comes
In the early days of June, the first rains of the season appeared in Dam Rong 4 commune, causing many households in the K'No 5 resettlement area to be worried.

After nearly a year of serious landslides, many taluy positions in this area continue to show signs of landslides again.
Mrs. Ro Ong Ka Duyet's family is one of the households heavily affected. In last year's rainy season, landslides collapsed part of the kitchen, sweeping along wooden walls and corrugated iron roofs. The family was forced to move the kitchen area inside the house even though many cracks appeared on the floor.

According to Ms. Duyet, after recent rains, the soil in the taluy area behind the house continues to show signs of subsidence.
The house is tilted, the floor is subsided, but the whole family of 5 still has to stay because there is no other place to move to.
On heavy rainy nights, my husband has to stay up to monitor the landslide situation. We hope that functional agencies will soon have solutions to reinforce the embankment and build a drainage system to ensure safety for people," Ms. Duyet shared.

Similarly, Mr. Co Lieng Ha On said that many cracks have appeared in his family's house due to the impact of the taluy landslide behind. Although temporarily repaired, every time it rains for a long time, the whole family is still constantly worried.
The house is tilted, the cracks are still there. If it rains heavily, the whole family cannot sleep for fear of the house collapsing. We hope to receive support to reinforce the embankment and overcome the landslide situation to stabilize our lives," Mr. Ha On said.
Proposing early allocation of funds for remediation
According to Dam Rong 4 Commune People's Committee, the landslide area is located in the Project to arrange residents in particularly difficult areas of K'No 5 village.
The project has been implemented since 2017, and so far 73 resettlement plots have been arranged. Of which, 63 households have built houses and moved in to live.

Through actual inspection, the locality identified two main landslide areas. The positive taluy area behind blocks A is subsided over a length of about 500m, directly threatening 15 households with more than 70 people.
The negative taluy area behind blocks B and D also has many landslide points, creating a "frog's mouth", damaging auxiliary works and threatening many houses.

Mr. Tran Van Kien - Head of the Economic Department of Dam Rong 4 commune - said that the locality has deployed standing militia forces to monitor the situation, and at the same time advised people to proactively evacuate when heavy rain lasts.
In the long term, the locality proposes that specialized agencies survey geology and terrain to have fundamental solutions to ensure safety for people," Mr. Kien said.

At the end of May, Dam Rong 4 Commune People's Committee proposed that the province consider supporting about 2.3 billion VND to overcome high-risk landslide points in the K'No 5 resettlement area.
The locality expects this funding to help thoroughly handle the risk of landslides, ensure safety and stability of people's lives before the peak rainy season this year.
