On October 22, Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Le Trong Yen and representatives of relevant agencies inspected the landslide scene at the Dung K'No 5 Village Residential Area Project (Dung K'No 5 Project), Dam Rong 4 Commune.

According to the Lac Duong Construction Investment Project Management Board (under the Lam Dong Province Construction Investment Project Management Board No. 1 - the project investor), the Dung K'No 5 project has weak soil and a high risk of landslides. Currently, this project has completed phase 1, resettling 73/87 households.
Since July, due to the impact of storms and floods, many slope locations in the project have experienced subsidence and landslides, threatening the safety of households.
Recently, the project investor inspected and temporarily repaired landslides by covering the negative slope behind the houses of 15 households with plastic tarpaulins; unblocking the flow at the foot of the slope in many locations in the project area.
The investor coordinated with the authorities of Dam Rong 4 commune to stretch ropes and put up warning signs at landslide locations to ensure the safety of the people.
At the meeting, Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Le Trong Yen requested relevant agencies to ensure the safety of households in the project area.

At the same time, Mr. Le Trong Yen requested local authorities to arrange forces to be on duty, regularly inspect and assess the landslide situation and mobilize people to evacuate from dangerous areas.
Mr. Le Trong Yen also suggested that the authorities conduct geological exploration drilling in the landslide area and consult experts to propose effective and long-term solutions.
According to Mr. Le Trong Yen, the safety and safety of people's lives must be given top priority. Therefore, he assigned the Department of Construction, the Department of Finance, the Lac Duong Construction Investment Project Management Board... to assess the current situation, make plans and appraise funding, and promptly propose solutions to overcome landslides.

Previously, Lao Dong Newspaper published an article reflecting on the serious landslide situation that occurred at the Dung K'N 5 Project.
This project has been implemented since 2018, with a total investment of more than 60 billion VND, to relocate people from high-risk areas. However, the place considered safe continues to face the dangers of landslides.
After receiving the information, Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee issued an urgent directive document to respond to the risk of landslides in mountainous residential areas.
According to the report, 15 households were directly affected and needed to be urgently evacuated; 48 other households were at risk of being affected if landslides continue.
Therefore, the Provincial People's Committee directs: Immediately relocate affected households to safe places such as community houses and health stations; Install warning signs, barriers, and arrange forces to be on duty 24/7, especially during heavy rain.
The Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Construction to preside over and coordinate with many departments and Commune People's Committees to inspect, assess the situation, and propose a handling plan before October 30.
The investor and related units are assigned to determine the cause and develop a plan to overcome the landslide before October 25. The People's Committee of the commune is responsible for supervising, warning and supporting the evacuation of people.
