On April 14, Duc Lap Forest Protection Department (Lam Dong province) said that a resident in Cu Jut commune had just voluntarily handed over a rare pangolin individual for functional agencies to receive and handle according to regulations.

According to initial information, at about 11 pm on April 13, while moving from Quang Truc commune to the Don 8 intersection area (Thuan Hanh commune), Mr. Nguyen Van Long (38 years old, in Cu Jut commune) discovered a pangolin lying in the middle of the road.
Realizing that this wild animal was at risk of being run over by the vehicle, Mr. Long stopped the car and put the pangolin in a safe place. The next morning, he contacted the local authorities to hand it over according to regulations.
Mr. Tran Nguyen Chi Dung - Forest Protection Department of Cu Jut commune (Duc Lap Forest Protection Department) said that the unit has received pangolins handed over by people.
This is a forest animal belonging to group IB - a list of endangered, precious, and rare species prioritized for protection.
Immediately after receiving it, we coordinated with the People's Committee of Cu Jut commune to complete the dossier and hand over the pangolin individual to the wildlife rescue center for care and health monitoring before releasing it back to its natural environment," Mr. Dung said.
According to the forest protection agency, pangolins are a species strictly prohibited from hunting, keeping, transporting, and trading in any form.
When detecting forest animals, people need to promptly notify functional agencies for handling in accordance with regulations.
