Reviving empty lands
In recent years, tens of thousands of trees of all kinds have been planted in many areas of Dak Nong province. This is a clear demonstration of the determination to restore the green color of the M' Nong plateau, while concretizing the Project to plant 1 billion trees launched by the Prime Minister.
According to statistics, in the period of 2021 - 2024, Dak Nong has planted 682.09 hectares of forest, equivalent to about 682,090 trees. In 2025, the province aims to plant about 73,000 more trees.
Particularly in Ta Dung National Park, the unit aims to complete the planting of 15,000 trees at the end of August, 2025, in order to greenen the forest to be assigned to manage as well as in the neighboring buffer zone. Mr. Khuong Thanh Long - Director of Ta Dung National Park Management Board - said that planting trees has great significance in the context of global climate change, not only protecting the environment, reducing natural disasters but also improving the quality of life and promoting sustainable development.
In recent years, Ta Dung National Park has maintained the protection of more than 20,000 hectares of forest, with a coverage rate of 85% of core areas. Officials and employees implement forest planting plans with the spirit of "Each individual is a green core", contributing to adding a great green color.
Returning green to lost forests
Dak Nong is one of the localities with large areas of natural forests in the country. According to the latest forest status announcement, the whole province has nearly 255,000 hectares of forested land, with a coverage rate of 39.51%.
Once likened to "golden forests, silver seas", but due to many reasons, the forest area in Dak Nong has been seriously degraded in recent years. Along National Highways 14 and 28 passing through Dak Song and Dak Glong districts, there have been cases of deforestation and poisoning of pine forests at an alarming level.
In Dak Glong district, the government has implemented a series of measures from propaganda and mobilizing people to enforce the forest area encroached along Highway 28. Phase 2022 - 2025, Dak Glong District Party Committee determined the management and protection of forest protection as one of two key tasks. The Standing Committee of the District Party Committee has directed the coercion to recover forestry land encroached in Dak Ha and Quang Son communes.
Mr. Tran Nam Thuan - Chairman of Dak Glong District People's Committee emphasized: "We are very determined in reclaiming encroached forests, especially along National Highway 28. After ineffective movements, we carried out enforcement. When the land is reclaimed, the locality will replant and strictly control to prevent re-encroachment."
Mr. Le Quang Dan - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dak Nong province - said that the movement of planting scattered trees has spread widely in the province.
In the coming time, Dak Nong province will continue to promote forest protection through community education programs and the application of remote sensing technology - GIS in monitoring forest resources and forest fire warnings.
The province also prioritizes calling for projects to develop ecotourism, agriculture and forestry combined, grow medicinal herbs under forest canopy and participate in the carbon credit market... to develop the economy associated with natural resource protection.
