On the afternoon of April 12, Mr. Le Huu Dong - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Huong Khe district - said that through inspection, the authorities of Huong Khe district did not discover any pig farm discharging waste into Khe Ac stream, causing mass fish deaths.
According to Mr. Dong, Khe Ac stream flows through Huong Tra and Huong Do communes. In Huong Do commune, where the dead fish were discovered, there was no pig farm.
In Huong Tra commune, there are 3 pig farms, but one wastewater farm after treatment is discharged towards Huong Xuan commune (Huong Khe), the remaining 2 farms have a dry wastewater reservoir, and no trace of discharging waste into Khe Ac stream has been found.

"Currently, the water in Khe Ac stream has cleared, and the fish do not continue to die. With the inspection and no discharge of pig farms discovered, we are suspecting that someone may have sprayed pesticides and herbicides, then shook and washed the spray bottles to dump them into the stream, causing the fish to die, Mr. Dong shared.
According to Mr. Dong, after discovering the dead fish, the unit sent officers down to check the incident, and at the same time took samples to send to the province for analysis to find the cause. To date, there are no results of sample analysis.
As Lao Dong reported, on April 8 - 9, people in Huong Do commune discovered a series of unusually dead fish in Khe Ac stream flowing through this locality. The dead fish species were mainly catfish, catfish, freshwater fish...
According to many people in Huong Do commune, at the beginning of Khe Ac stream in Huong Tra commune, there are many pig farms. Therefore, they suspect that those farms may discharge waste, causing fish deaths.
According to Mr. Dinh Quoc Quan - Vice Chairman of Huong Do Commune People's Committee, the flow of Khe Ac stream through Huong Do commune does not have any pig farms. In Huong Tra commune, at the headwaters of Khe Ac stream, there are 2 pig farms.
Therefore, people as well as local authorities are questioning whether the pig farm discharges waste from upstream, causing water sources to be affected, causing fish to die.
