Old woman picking up scrap in Ho Chi Minh City returns gold bag to person who mistakenly threw it in the trash

Ho Chi Minh City - Ms. Nguyen Thi Mui, a scrap collector in Hiep Binh ward, proactively handed over the gold collected to the police to return to people who accidentally threw garbage.

On September 9, on the website of Hiep Binh Ward Police, it was reported that the unit had received the gold that Ms. Nguyen Thi Mui had picked up and returned it to the victim.

Accordingly, at about 9:30 am on September 8, 2026, while picking up scrap metal in the area, Ms. Nguyen Thi Mui (born in 1948, residing in Quarter 41, Hiep Binh Ward) picked up a paper bag. Checking inside, she discovered many boxes containing gold jewelry including 15 rings, 2 necklaces, 1 bracelet and 1 pendant.

Immediately after that, Ms. Mui proactively brought all the above assets to Hiep Binh Ward Police to report, asking functional forces to verify and return them to the owner.

Upon receiving the information, Hiep Binh Ward Police quickly reviewed and identified the owner of the above gold as Ms. Tran Thi Thuy Van (born in 1992, residing in Quarter 41, Hiep Binh Ward). Previously, while cleaning the house, Ms. Van carelessly threw the jewelry bag into the trash can. On the same day, Ms. Van was present at the ward police headquarters and received all the lost property back.

Moved when receiving back the large property, Ms. Van sent sincere thanks to Ms. Nguyen Thi Mui and the local police force for their timely support.

In order to recognize and spread the beautiful action, Hiep Binh Ward Police coordinated with the 3 in 1 Task Force of Quarter 41 and Ms. Tran Thi Thuy Van to visit and give Ms. Mui a gift including 10 million VND and 10kg of rice.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Mui's action of not being greedy for lost property has shown her honest and compassionate qualities, contributing to spreading beautiful living values and the image of exemplary people in the locality.
