On the morning of June 3, the People's Committee of An Don Ward (Quang Tri Town, Quang Tri Province) organized a ceremony to award certificates of merit from the Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Tri Town to 3 people who took brave actions to save drowning people.
The 3 people who were commended include Mr. Le Ngoc Phuc (43 years old), Mr. Nguyen Moi (47 years old) and Mr. Nguyen Van An (43 years old), all residing in An Don ward.
Previously, on the afternoon of May 24, when they discovered Ms. N.T.N.H (35 years old, residing in Vinh Linh district) drowning in the middle of Thach Han river, all 3 people did not hesitate to use a boat to approach the scene, then jumped down to save the victim to safety.
After completing the rescue, all 3 people quietly left without informing the authorities or local people.
By May 25, An Don Ward Police had verified the identities of the individuals participating in the rescue. The Ward People's Committee then proposed that the Quang Tri Town People's Committee reward him in order to promptly commend this brave act.
Mr. Le Van Khanh - Chairman of An Don Ward People's Committee - said that saving drowning people is a beautiful gesture, full of responsibility to the community. Timely commendation of the above cases contributes to spreading positive values in society.
Earlier, as the Lao Dong newspaper reported, around 9am 24.5, Ms. N.T.N.H suddenly fell from Thach Han Bridge into the river. When people discovered and shouted for help, three men promptly boarded the boat, rushed out of the water and saved the victim's life. After completing the rescue, they quietly left the scene, leaving behind the movement and admiration of the community.
