Turning hospital beds into a playground for childhood
Every year, thousands of children in Vietnam face the terrible cancer. Diseases such as brain cancer, spinal cord, neuroblastoma, kidney cancer, bone cancer... have caused children to undergo dozens of radiotherapy and chemotherapy sessions, spent most of their childhood in bed instead of playgrounds and schools.
However, at the Department of Oncology, Hematology, Marrow Transplantation - Pediatric Center, Hue Central Hospital, a special space has been created to help pediatric patients have more motivation to fight the disease. Space for Children 2 - a playground designed right in the hospital, became a place to bring joy and optimism to the child soldiers.

Here, in addition to stress treatment hours, children can participate in many useful activities such as studying with volunteers, interacting with international students, participating in cultural performances, and collective games. This space helps them temporarily forget the pain of illness, immerse themselves in simple but meaningful laughter and joy.
Building trust - adding hope
Patient N.T.L (13 years old, residing in Huong Tra town, Hue city) has not been able to return home for many months. In the early days of the hospital, I just hang around in the hospital room, tired of being friends with the phone.
But since "Space for You 2", L has gradually changed her habits. Tim and I kept smashing in excitement because I was so happy to see this play space. Although the toys are no longer suitable for my age, I still really want to play lego here, L excitedly shared.
The birth of Space for Children 2 was a collaboration of many organizations, including Ms. Kazuyo Watanabe - President of the Asian Child Care Federation.

Many pediatric patients treated at Hue Central Hospital come from remote areas and difficult circumstances. Having a space to play during treatment is extremely necessary to help children have a strong fighting spirit against the disease.
Not only a playground, Space for children 2 is also a bridge for organizations and philanthropists to visit and encourage them.
Doctor Pham Nhu Hien - Chairman of the Hue Young Physicians Association said that "Space for Children 2" was built to continue the success of the previous "Space for Children". This is not only a second home for children but also a miniature society, giving them the opportunity to learn, interact and develop both physically and mentally.
In addition to creating a better treatment environment, Hue Central Hospital also constantly improves the quality of its expertise. According to Ms. Kazuyo Watanabe, the hospital has implemented many high-tech techniques such as radiotherapy and stem cell transplantation to treat cancer in children. Thanks to medical advances and community interest, the rate of cancer treatment dismissal in hospitals has decreased significantly. Many students after completing the treatment regimen have returned to normal life, are healthy, and integrated into society.
These results continue to be a motivation for the "child warriors" to be more resilient in their journey to fight cancer. With the cooperation of doctors, families and the community, children are not alone in the path to regain their childhood and future.
