According to the Women's Union of Binh Thuan province, the whole province has more than 1,300 orphans being monitored by the association to find solutions to mobilize groups and individuals to receive sponsorship. Many units have actively implemented diverse, creative and effective forms such as the " Godmother" programs.
In particular, Binh Thuan Provincial Police is considered the unit that best carries out the work of sponsoring orphans. In 2024, 50 orphans in special circumstances were sponsored by women's unions at all levels and units under the Provincial Police. Of which, the Women's Union of Binh Thuan Provincial Police sponsored 38 students.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thi Huong, Head of the Women's Committee, Women's Union of Binh Thuan Provincial Police shared that from 2024, sponsorship is not only limited to children orphaned by COVID-19, but also expanded. Therefore, the police units coordinate with local women's associations, teachers and relatives to ensure care, grasp the children's situation, promptly help and educate when necessary so that children feel the warm family, have the motivation to strive in studying and life, and become useful people for society.
The Association has built 15 charity fundraising models, mobilized contributions from members' salary days, built the Phan Trong Binh People's Armed Forces Heroic Social Work Fund, and supported by benefactors. In addition, regularly reward children with excellent academic achievements; research on organizing summer campes and exchange activities.
Especially among the children sponsored by the Women's Union of Binh Thuan Provincial Police, in 2024, Nguyen Ngoc Minh Thu (born in 2007, residing in La Gi town) was chosen to participate in the Summer of Love Camp organized by the Ministry of Public Security and was honored. Sharing on the program, Minh Thu said that she lost her parents early and also lost her mother to the COVID-19 pandemic. At that time, I gradually hesitated and lost faith in hope. Fortunately, mothers in the Women's Union of Binh Thuan Provincial Police took custody and gave their children love, from which the life of the child lacked confidence and the vitality day after day opened a new page with encouragement, love and sharing.
The "Sisters" program creates better material and spiritual conditions to help orphans in especially difficult circumstances continue to go to school, while further promoting the social attention in supporting, caring for, and raising orphans, creating conditions for them to develop comprehensively.
