Expressway, seaport, airport simultaneously start construction in Ca Mau
Along with the whole country, on the morning of August 19, in Khai Long Hamlet, Dat Mui Commune, the Ministry of National Defense officially started the Ca Mau - Dat Mui Expressway project, Hon Khoai Bi-use General Port and the traffic route to Hon Khoai Island.
Attending the Dat Mui and Ca Mau bridge points were former President Nguyen Minh Triet, former leaders, party and state leaders.

Also at this time, other important projects in Ca Mau province include: Ca Mau Airport Expansion and Upgrade Project, Social Housing Project of New Urban Area Hamlet 5, Ward 1, Bac Lieu Sports - Exercise Complex Project, Ca Mau - Dam Doi Road Upgrade and Expansion Project were also inaugurated and started.
The Prime Minister has approved the addition of the Ca Mau - Dat Mui Expressway (CT.43) to the Vietnam Road Network Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050.
The project is about 90km long (the starting point is in the old Ca Mau city and the ending point is in the old Ngoc Hien district), with a scale of 4 lanes, and an investment process before 2030. The Ca Mau - Dat Mui Expressway has a total estimated investment of nearly 59,000 billion VND, constructed under an emergency mechanism, expected to be completed in 2028.


Hon Khoai dual-use general port includes the main construction area with a total area of 590.5 hectares. In particular, the site clearance of 82 hectares is renovated to build construction items: Commercial exploitation port area with an area of 59.1 hectares with a 1,000m long wharf; system of 5 approach bridges; The total length of the embankment is about 1,600m; The embankment protects the embankment combined with a wave-breaking dike of about 560m; The total length of the wave-breaking dike is 3,920m. In addition, there is a shared technical infrastructure area of 14.3 hectares and other areas of 8.6 hectares.
The project also builds military works with a scale to meet the water surface fleet: Border Guard embankment system combined with a boat dock about 350m long, wharf elevation +4.0mHD; Shelter system to ensure unit needs. Dredging the ship's channel (5.6km long, 250m wide), the ship's quay area (600m in diameter) and the water area anchored in front of the wharf (1,000m long, 120m wide), with a total area of about 203 hectares, meeting the needs of container ships up to 250,000DWT to reduce the load and general cargo ships, bulky goods with water and equivalent size.
Ca Mau Airport Expansion and Upgrade Project with a total investment of about VND 2,400 billion. According to the planning for the period 2021 - 2030, Ca Mau Airport will reach level 4C, with a capacity of 1 million passengers/year and 1,000 tons of cargo/year. The type of aircraft used is Code C (A320, A321 or equivalent), with the approach method of CAT I landing at the beginning of 27 and simple at the beginning of 09.

Regarding technical infrastructure, the aircraft parking lot for the period 2021 - 2030 is planned to be located south of the runway, meeting about 4 parking locations. By 2050, the airport will be expanded to the North, synchronized with the new civil aviation area, to accommodate about 10 parking locations, and have a reserve land fund to expand when necessary.
The existing passenger terminal will be expanded in the period up to 2030, ensuring the capacity to serve 1 million passengers/year. From 2050, a new passenger terminal will be built north of the runway with a capacity of about 3 million passengers/year, with a reserve land fund for development.
New opportunity for Ca Mau to break through
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, General Phan Van Giang - Politburo member, Minister of National Defense - affirmed that the investment in these projects, as well as the Ca Mau - Dat Mui Expressway Project, Hon Khoai Bi-use General Port, and the access road from Khai Long to Hon Khoai, is of special importance.

To implement the project, the Ministry of National Defense has surveyed and issued an emergency order, the military corporations have implemented 3 determinations: On schedule; Ensuring quality; Applying technology, ensuring safety. Conducting the construction with the determination of 3 readiness, 3 shifts and 4 teams working through time, ensuring all aspects to complete on schedule soon.
Chairman of Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee Pham Thanh Ngai said that in recent times, a number of key projects have been focusing on implementation, thereby gradually solving and effectively removing bottlenecks in transport infrastructure for the area.
Connecting the North-South axis expressway, the Ca Mau - Dat Mui expressway with a length of about 82km will connect smoothly through the expressway from Cao Bang - Lang Son to the Ca Mau Cape - the southernmost point of the Fatherland. Along with that, the traffic route to Hon Khoai Island and Hon Khoai Dual-use General Port will connect the island cluster with the mainland, effectively promoting and exploiting the potential and unique advantages.
The Ca Mau - Dat Mui Expressway, the traffic route to Hon Khoai Island and Hon Khoai Dual-use General Port are projects and works of special scale, living proof of the deep concern of the Party and State for the development of Ca Mau, at the same time, this is also the result of the consensus and high determination of the entire political system, business community, and each Ca Mau people in the process of building and developing their homeland.

The Chairman of Ca Mau said that in the coming time, the province will urgently review the planning along both sides of the Ca Mau - Dat Mui expressway. Planning the system of seaports, inland waterway ports and related plans in the province, proposing investment in traffic axes connecting to expressways to connect economic zones, industrial parks, urban areas, economic driving centers to create a breakthrough in local socio-economic development, at the same time researching and proposing the establishment of seaport logistics areas and planning other works and functional areas to effectively connect and exploit Hon Khoai Binh General Port and Ca Mau Airport to maximize the potential and advantages of the locality.
Mr. Nguyen Van Minh - a resident of Dat Mui, Ca Mau - said: Never dare to imagine having a highway to Dat Mui. Mr. Minh said that with highways, airports, ports, businesses will come to Ca Mau to invest, so their children here will no longer have to work far away.
For businesses in Ca Mau, they are also ready to take the lead in large projects and works being invested in Ca Mau province. Mr. Mai Hoang Viet - Director of Cong Tu Bac Lieu Tourism Joint Stock Company - said that this is an opportunity not unique to the tourism industry to develop. Because, shortening the road, saving time, tourist attractions are closer to tourists.
