HUE - After the reflection of Lao Dong Newspaper, the current state of the sketchy fence at the Pham Van Dong Street expansion project (Hue City) has been fixed.
Barriers were put up at the road construction project after a report from Lao Dong Newspaper.
As Lao Dong reported, at the construction site of the project to expand and renovate the sidewalks and water supply and drainage system on Pham Van Dong Street (Hue City), there were many locations without barriers or warnings, revealing unfinished paths and extremely dangerous slippery gravel.Along with that, the manholes about 1m deep and uncovered have created dangerous “traps” for passersby. The proof is that on the evening of September 20, when it was raining heavily, a young man named Q. had an accident in an area without barriers or warnings of the construction.According to the victim's family, Q. suffered a brain contusion and hemorrhage, and a broken cheekbone and nose bridge. Q. is currently being treated at Hue Central Hospital. After that, Lao Dong Newspaper reflected the above situation through the article "People say they had an accident due to the project's sketchy fencing?".After receiving the feedback, the construction unit's representative sent supervisors to inspect and re-stretch the wires on the route to ensure people's safety on the afternoon of April 23.According to Lao Dong's records on September 24-25, many sections of the construction site that lacked barriers were repaired, deep manholes were covered, and warning signs were installed on especially dangerous residential paths. However, people traveling on Pham Van Dong Street need to be very careful as the construction is still unfinished, with many rocks and gravel still scattered on the road surface and construction materials still lying around.Dangerous locations have been covered.Pham Van Dong Street, part of National Highway 49A, is over 2.6km long and is considered the eastern arterial road of Hue City. Every day, the route is crowded with vehicles and people, even overloaded during rush hour.In order to improve the road area, in July 2023, the project to expand and renovate the sidewalks, water supply and drainage system of Pham Van Dong Street with an investment of 152 billion VND from Japanese ODA capital was started. The project is invested by the Hue City Water Environment Improvement Project Management Board and is expected to be completed in June 2024, constructed by the joint venture of Thanh Phat - Nam A Construction Company Limited. Before and after images reported by Lao Dong Newspaper. The above route is currently suspended because the project has to adjust its capital structure due to the sharp decline in the exchange rate of the Japanese Yen (JPY). After the project was suspended, the construction site was left in disarray and poorly fenced, making it difficult for people to travel.
