On March 26, Mr. Dang Hoang Tuan - Director of Long An Department of Construction - said that implementing the Social Housing Development Project approved by the Provincial People's Committee in Decision No. 13213/QD-UBND dated December 19, 2024, in 2025, Long An aims to complete 5 projects with a total area of 2.13 hectares, corresponding to 774 apartments. At the same time, in 2025, the province also plans to start 21 projects with a total scale of up to 129.33 hectares, providing 32,977 apartments.
In the first quarter of 2025, construction of 1 project with an area of 0.71ha (400 apartments) will start; in the second quarter, 8 projects with an area of 7.37ha (3.891 apartments) will start; in the third quarter, 5 projects with an area of 36.22ha (8,513 apartments) will start; and in the fourth quarter, 7 large projects with a total area of over 85ha (19,440 apartments) will start.
Mr. Tuan also said that to implement the above plan and goals, on March 5, the Long An Department of Construction coordinated with investor Prodezi to organize a groundbreaking ceremony for the social housing apartment project in the LA Home Eco- Urban Area (Luong Hoa commune, Ben Luc district). This is the first social housing project in Long An province in 2025, starting a large-scale social housing development plan in the area.
The project has a scale of 2 blocks of 8 floors with a total of 400 apartments, built on a land area of over 0.71ha and a total construction floor area of 29,700m2. The project is expected to provide accommodation for more than 1,200 workers, with a total investment of more than 421.3 billion VND. According to the plan, this project will be completed by the end of 2025.
In the second quarter of 2025 alone, it is expected to start construction of 8 social housing projects in Duc Hoa, Ben Luc and Can Duoc districts, including: My Hanh Social Housing Project (175 apartments), project in Duc Lap Ha commune (120 apartments), project in Phuoc Dong resettlement area (400 apartments), project in Phu An residential area (1100 apartments), project in Mai Ba Huong residential area (600 apartments), project in Duc Hoa district urban residential area (52 apartments), Tan Do residential area project (800 apartments) and project in Nhut Chanh resettlement area (644 apartments). These projects are expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2026.
In the goal of starting the construction of social housing in Long An province in 2025, there are a number of large-scale, outstanding projects such as: Social housing project in Hau Nghia new urban area (Duc Hoa district), 16ha area with 6,399 apartments; social housing area in My Hanh Nam commune (Duc Hoa district), 16.43ha area (4,000 apartments) and the largest-scale project is in Phuoc Vinh Tay new urban area (Can Giuoc district) with an area of 62.44ha, providing 13,440 apartments.
It is expected that these large-scale social housing projects will start construction in the third and fourth quarters of 2025 and be completed in the third and fourth quarters of 2026.
However, according to Mr. Dang Hoang Tuan, the implementation process is also facing some difficulties and problems. One of the obstacles is that compensation and site clearance in some localities are still slow. This directly affects the progress of site handover to investors. Many investors want to adjust the height of the floor to optimize investment efficiency, but it has not been considered and resolved in a timely manner.
In addition, procedures for determining land prices and allocating land are also taking place slowly, greatly affecting the implementation of the project. Some investors, although allocated land, have not shown determination to implement.
Faced with the above difficulties, relevant departments, branches and localities urgently remove obstacles and speed up implementation progress to ensure the completion of social housing development targets in 2025, serving the increasingly urgent housing needs of people in the province.
