On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024), Kim Dong Publishing House launched a book by author Nguyen Manh Ha.
With the desire to help today's readers, especially young readers, learn about the army and modern history of Vietnam, the book is divided into 2 main parts: Part 1 - The birth and operation of the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army; Part 2 - A brief account of the organizer and 34 officers and soldiers of the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army.
In which, part 1 mentions the formation and development process of the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army with the first victorious battles, the first newspaper, the first martyrs...
Author Nguyen Manh Ha said that in 1992, the Vietnam Liberation Army Liaison Committee organized a meeting with comrades who were former cadres and team members of the team.
At the request of many comrades in the Liaison Committee, the General Department of Politics and the Ministry of National Defense helped and created conditions to research, collect, verify, and make a list of the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army.
After 3 conferences held in Cao Bang, Thai Nguyen and Hanoi along with further research and investigation, on November 2, 1994, a list of 34 team members was determined and submitted to General Vo Nguyen Giap for approval in time to have their names engraved on a stele placed in the Tran Hung Dao Forest Relic Site, Nguyen Binh District, Cao Bang Province on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Army (December 22, 1994).
However, when the name plaque was completed, there were also some suggestions for editing and additions. Therefore, the verification and editing of information about the team members continued from April 2000 to March 2003 to obtain the current list.
Part 2 of the book aims to pay tribute to the 34 members of the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army Team and General Vo Nguyen Giap, who, following the instructions of leader Ho Chi Minh, organized and established the Team.
Right after the historic December 22, 1944, 34 members of the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army fought, contributing their efforts and blood to the cause of national liberation.
Among them, there were comrades who sacrificed, some comrades became generals of the Vietnam People's Army and achieved many feats, many people were demobilized after liberation, continuing to contribute to society in different roles and positions.
There are glorious victories, there are silent sacrifices, each team member has a life, but all come from "the people", share the ideal of "fighting for the people", and together keep the 10 honorable oaths.
Ms. Vu Thi Quynh Lien - Deputy Director, Editor-in-Chief of Kim Dong Publishing House - shared: "The book is written clearly, scientifically, concisely, simply and emotionally, not only suitable for young readers but also for those who want to learn about the history of the Vietnamese army and modern Vietnamese history.
Readers will find a lot of documents and information as well as learn the author's serious and careful way of working on historical and human issues.
The book also realistically depicts the portrait of Uncle Ho's soldier that the Vietnamese people always trust and are grateful for."
On this occasion, Kim Dong Publishing House republished the book "The Western Front" (The Lao-Vietnamese Border Propaganda Armed Forces) by poet Quang Dung - a publication awarded the A Prize of the 2020 National Book Award.
After nearly 70 years, the memoirs of poet and soldier Quang Dung about the Tay Tien Army Corps have become invaluable literary and historical documents, contributing to the country's resistance literature and art heritage.
