What do you see from the AR book?
Galaxy Adventure" and "Amazing Forest" combine traditional printed books and digital technology.
Through the AR application, static images on the book page can be "transformed" into lively 3D models, allowing readers to interact directly.
The application of AR in children's books is considered a new direction in the context of children being exposed to technology devices early. Instead of competing with digital entertainment forms, interactive books choose to combine technology to increase attractiveness, while still maintaining the role of knowledge transmission.
At the seminar, Ms. Trinh Cam Ly - specialist of the Department of General Education, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training said that technology can become a learning support tool if properly oriented. According to her, AR integration helps content become more visual, thereby stimulating children's curiosity and discovery ability. From a technology perspective, Mr. Nguyen Huy - Former Senior Technical Director of Geniebook said that AR creates a proactive experience, helping to improve the efficiency of knowledge absorption compared to passive absorption.
Representative of SPACES development unit - the unit implementing the book launch, Doan Phuong Thoa said that this is the starting point for an expanded education ecosystem, combining books, technology and creative learning products.
No less challenging
Reality shows that the interactive book model is gradually becoming popular in the world, especially in early education. In Vietnam, the appearance of AR books reflects the trend of innovation in reading methods, towards a combination of technology and educational content.
However, the application of technology needs to be accompanied by content control and usage time, in order to avoid dependence on devices. Books, in any form, still need to maintain the core role of nurturing reading habits and independent thinking.
In addition, readers may be drawn into visual effects, reducing focus on text content. Dependence on the internet and devices is also a certain barrier. In particular, usage time needs to be controlled when the main target is children.
The biggest challenge is still balancing technology and core reading values.
However, publications such as "Galaxy Adventure" and "Amazing Forest" show efforts to innovate in the approach to reading culture, opening up more choices for parents and students in combining learning with technology experiences.
