School violence - caused by family education

National Assembly Deputy Nguyen Thanh Cam said that school violence is hindering Vietnam's important achievements in education and human development.

Speaking to the National Assembly on the morning of October 30, National Assembly delegate Nguyen Thanh Cam analyzed that school violence is not only due to conflicts between students but also originates from families.

The delegate informed that in the period of 2023 - 2024, the whole country still has more than 5,000 households with domestic violence and affirmed: "Research shows that children in families with violence are at high risk of repeating the cycle of violence in the future".

Recently, there have been many serious cases of school violence. There were cases of students stabbing and killing classmates, there were cases of torturing, humiliating, and insulting the dignity of others such as forcing classmates to get on their knees and licking their license plates.

Many cases of school violence have caused pain in people's hearts, and those who care about the educational environment are worried and concerned about the future of the younger generation.

According to the Ministry of Education and Training, from September 2021 to November 2023, there were 699 cases of school violence involving 2,016 students nationwide, an average of 50 educational institutions had one more case.

Recently, the number of school violence cases has occurred more and become more serious.

Without effective prevention measures, school violence will spread, affecting not only schools, but also causing insecurity for the social community.

Schools and teachers cannot prevent violence, so do not blame the education sector, but must find the root of the disease for treatment.

That root cause could be family education.

Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son once provided information that up to 70% of students have committed acts of violence against others in special family circumstances, or parents are divorced, or have witnessed domestic violence, or have themselves been subject to domestic violence.

If parents do not teach their children, set a bad example, or even cause violence in the family, their children will be negatively affected in their thinking and awareness, leading to wrongdoings. Including uncultured behavior, bullying or assaulting others.

The father took his child to school, and when a traffic collision occurred, he got into a fight right in front of his child, who was prone to violence and was willing to use fists to resolve conflicts.

Parents only worry about making a living, not paying attention to teaching their children, so that when their children are corrupt, become innocent or criminals, all their efforts will be in vain.

Encouraging children to be good people is to build sustainable happiness for the family, while also contributing to preventing many evils in society, including school violence.
