Get rid of the mindset that a medical center is a temporary place to visit

Many hospitals in some localities in the Mekong Delta are “deserted” and are at risk of not having enough money to pay salaries to medical staff. On the contrary, there are also hospitals and medical centers that have increased the number of patients, typically in Can Tho city.

The main difference is that where there is adequate investment in medical equipment and good patient care, there are patients. But a medical center that only has a blood pressure monitor and a medicine cabinet like a family medicine cabinet, not many people trust it enough to become customers.

That reality shows that improving people's health care and retaining medical staff cannot be achieved by slogans, but by practical changes at medical facilities. Management thinking in the medical field must also follow the rules of the market. Medical facilities are places that provide medical examination and treatment services, so they must ensure professional quality, reasonable prices, and convenience for customers.

Do not think that the district and county health centers are just temporary medical examination places, but must change to become quality medical examination and treatment places. To do so, we must invest in adequate equipment, facilities and human resources. When we attract patients and have a source of salary and remuneration for doctors and nurses, we will retain good doctors. With good people, the quality of medical examination and treatment is improved, and patients will come back.

There are many opinions that localities do not have enough money to invest in equipment and machinery for all medical facilities. So, let's create conditions for socialization to increase services and improve the quality of medical examination for people. The local health sector needs to be creative and bold in proposing socialization models, ensuring compliance with the law and creating common benefits for society.

Patients go to a medical center near their home, but get good examination and treatment, there is no need to go far, that is also a way to reduce patients going to higher levels without using administrative regulations. Everyone wants convenience, the problem is whether the medical service provider creates a product that is both valuable and convenient or not.

The convenience that the medical center creates is also in building a customer database, just typing "mouse" can be enough information to consult patients. This is not a simple matter of digitization, but the patient's medical history is important information to support effective diagnosis and treatment, saving time and costs.
